Pharmacological action
Drug of animal origin. It has an organotropic effect on the prostate gland. Reduces swelling leukocyte infiltration of the prostate gland, normalizes the secretory function of epithelial cells, increases the number of lecithin grains in the secret of acini, stimulates the muscle tone of the bladder. It reduces thrombosis, has antiplatelet activity, and prevents the development of venous thrombosis in the prostate gland.
It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant effects, reduces pain.
Promotes an increase in the level of free testosterone, an increase in the number of progressively motile forms of sperm and their morphologically normal forms. Causes a decrease in antisperm antibodies. Normalizes male copulative function.
Pharmacokinetics
Peptides of the prostate extract in the tissues are cleaved by cellular proteases to amino acids, which are involved in the synthesis of tissue-specific proteins and other biologically active compounds. The zinc chelate complex of arginyl glycinate dihydrochloride is broken down into zinc, arginine and glycine with their subsequent metabolism.
The drug has no cumulative effect.
Indications
Chronic abacterial prostatitis, incl. with impaired spermatogenesis and erectile function
state before and after surgical interventions on the prostate gland
benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug
children under 18 years of age.
Use with caution in patients with acute inflammatory diseases of the rectum and perianal region, such as hemorrhoids (external and internal), anal fissures, paraproctitis, inflammation of the epithelial coccygeal passages, etc.
Composition
Rectal suppositories, torpedo-shaped, from white to yellow in the section, an air rod or funnel-shaped recess is allowed.

Excipients: liquid paraffin – 60 mg, solid fat (Vitepsol or Estaram, brand W35) – enough to get a 1.9 g suppository
Dosage and administration
Suppositories are administered rectally, 1 pc. 1 time / day
The suppository is injected deep into the anus after a bowel movement or cleansing enema. After administration of the suppository, the patient is recommended to rest in a supine position for 30 minutes for better absorption of the drug components.
The course of treatment is at least 10 days. The maximum duration of treatment is 20 days. A second course is possible no earlier than 4 weeks after the end of the previous one.
The drug should be used only according to the indicated method of use in recommended doses.
Side effects
Possible: short-term itching and burning in the rectum, passing on their own and not requiring the appointment of additional therapy, allergic reactions, relaxation of stool.
If any of the above side effects are exacerbated, or if any other side effects not listed in the instructions appear, the patient should inform the doctor.
Overdose
There have been no cases of overdose of the drug Prostatilen ®.
