Description
Pharmacological action
Antidiarrheal drug, is a naturally occurring aluminosilicate. It has an adsorbing effect.
Stabilizes the gastrointestinal mucosa, forms polyvalent bonds with mucus glycoproteins, increases the amount of mucus and improves its cytoprotective properties (with respect to the negative effects of hydrogen ions of hydrochloric acid, bile salts, microorganisms and their toxins).
Possesses selective sorption properties, which are explained by its discoid-crystalline structure, adsorb bacteria and viruses in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract.
Smecta ® in therapeutic doses does not affect intestinal motility.
Diosmectite is radiolucent and does not stain the stool.
Aluminum in the composition of diosmectite is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, including with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by symptoms of colitis and colonopathy.
Indications
acute and chronic diarrhea (allergic, drug genesis in violation of the diet and quality of food)
diarrhea of infectious origin (as part of complex therapy)
symptomatic treatment of heartburn, bloating and discomfort in the stomach and other symptoms of dyspepsia, other organs Gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications

Special instructions
Use with caution in patients with a history of severe chronic constipation.
Adult therapy with Smecta ® in combination with rehydration measures is prescribed if necessary.
A set of rehydration measures is prescribed depending on the course of the disease, age and characteristics of the patient.
The interval between taking Smecta and other medicines should be 1-2 hours.
Pediatric use
In children with acute diarrhea, the drug should be used in combination with rehydration measures.

Dosage and administration of
Acute diarrhea
Adults are advised to use 6 sachets per day.
For children under 1 year old – 2 sachets / day for 3 days, then 1 sachet / day for children over 1 year old – 4 sachets / day for 3 days, then – 2 sachets / day.
Other indications
Adults are prescribed 3 sachets / day.
For children under 1 year old – 1 sachet / day, 1-2 years old – 1-2 sachets / day over 2 years old – 2-3 sachets / day.
Recommended course of treatment 3-7 days.
With esophagitis, Smecta ® should be taken orally after a meal, with other indications – between meals.
Rules for taking the drug
For adults, the contents of the bags are dissolved in 1/2 cup of water, gradually pouring out the powder and stirring evenly. The prescribed dose is divided into 3 doses throughout the day.
For children, the contents of the bags are dissolved in a baby bottle (50 ml) and distributed in several doses throughout the day or mixed with some semi-liquid product (porridge, mashed potatoes, compote, baby food).
Side effects of the
From the digestive system: in clinical trials, rarely – constipation (mild, passed after dose adjustment).
Allergic reactions: very rarely in routine practice – urticaria, rash, itching, Quincke’s edema.
Drug Interactions
With the simultaneous use of Smecta ®, it may decrease the rate and extent of absorption of other drugs. It is not recommended to take the drug simultaneously with other drugs.
Storage conditions
The drug should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
