Pharmacological action of
Cephalexin has an antibacterial, bactericidal effect.
Indications
Diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, soft tissues, otitis media, osteomyelitis, endometritis, gonorrhea.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins and penicillins.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
It is possible if the expected effect of therapy exceeds the potential risk to the fetus. During treatment with cephalexin, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
Composition
5 ml. the prepared suspension contains cephalexin 250 mg
Dosage and administration of
A single dose of the drug for adults is 0.5 – 1 g every 6 to 8 hours (1 – 2 g per day) for severe infections, as well as the allocation of pathogens, moderately sensitive to cephalexin 2 g every 8 hours, the maximum daily dose is 6 g. For children, the drug is prescribed in a daily dose of 25-50 mg / kg, with severe infections 75-100 mg / kg (maximum). The daily dose is divided into 2 to 3 injections.
Side effects of
From the nervous system and sensory organs: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, hallucinations (rarely).
From the cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): eosinophilia, reversible leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia.
From the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, loss of appetite, diarrhea, cholestatic jaundice, hepatitis, transient increase in liver transaminases.
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, dermatitis, rarely – Quincke edema, arthralgia, candidiasis.
