Geksikon ®, vaginal suppositories, 1 or 5 suppositories are placed in a blister strip packaging. One blister pack with one suppository and two fingertips, one or two blister packs of 5 suppositories together with instructions for medical use of the drug are placed in a pack of cardboard.

Pharmacological action

Hexicon ® is an antiseptic drug for local use, it is active against protozoan, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, viruses, including: Treponema pallidum, Chlamidia spp., Ureaplasma spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeasrin Trinalis, Tr. vaginalis, Bacteroides fragilis, Herpes-virus. Some strains of Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp. Are weakly sensitive to the drug, as well as acid-resistant forms of bacteria, bacterial spores, fungi are resistant. Hexicon ® does not interfere with the functional activity of lactobacilli. It remains active (although somewhat reduced) in the presence of blood, pus.

Pharmacokinetics: When administered intravaginally, it is practically not absorbed, has no systemic effect.

Indications

Prevention of sexually transmitted infections:

Gonorrhea.

Syphilis.

Trichomoniasis.

Chlamydia.

Ureaplasmosis.

Genital herpes.

Prevention of infectious and inflammatory complications in obstetrics and gynecology:

Before surgical treatment of gynecological diseases.

Before birth and abortion.

Before and after the installation of the intrauterine device.

Before and after diathermocoagulation of the cervix.

Before intrauterine examinations.

Treatment of chronic exo- and endocervicitis, vaginitis (including non-specific, mixed, trichomonas).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Allergic reactions.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The drug is not contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).

Special instructions

In children, it is recommended to use the drug Hexicon D. (Hexicon D supp. 8 mg).

Composition

One suppository contains: active substance: chlorhexidine bigluconate – 16 mg (chlorhexidine bigluconate is used as a solution (concentration of 20%))

excipients: the basis for suppositories – a sufficient amount to obtain a suppository weighing 3.10 g – macrogol 1500 (polyethylene oxide 1500) 92 – 98%, macrogol 400 (polyethylene oxide 400) 8 – 2%.

Dosage and Administration

Intravaginally. Before use, the suppository is freed from contour packaging.

For treatment: 1 suppository 2 times a day, for 7-10 days.

For the prevention of sexually transmitted infections: 1 suppository no later than 2 hours after unprotected intercourse.

Side effects

Allergic reactions, itching that occur after drug withdrawal are possible.

Drug Interactions

Concomitant use with iodine is not recommended.

Hexicon ® is not compatible with anionic detergents (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) and soaps if they are administered intravaginally. External genitalia does not affect the effectiveness and tolerance of vaginal hexicon ® suppositories, as the drug is administered intravaginally.

Overdose

There have been no reports of overdose with Hexicon at this time.
