Pharmacological action
Lactusan is the drug of choice for dysbiosis, to normalize the intestinal microflora.
The basis of Lactusan is lactulose, a disaccharide that selectively stimulates the growth of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli in the human colon, without being absorbed into the bloodstream and without having a systemic effect.
Lactusan is completely safe for both adults and children.
The active substance of Lactusan is lactulose, known to doctors for more than 40 years. None of the studies, over the entire period of the use of lactulose, has there been any direct or indirect evidence of the presence of mutagenic, genotoxic or teratogenic effects.
Indications
Lactusan is indicated for: when correcting the consequences of
antibiotic therapy for intestinal dysbiosis in adults and children of varying severity
for liver diseases of various etiology
for chronic constipation in the elderly, children, pregnant women, as well as for patients with long-term bed rest

Composition
Lactusan contains: not less than 55% of dry matter of them: lactulose – not less than 45% (is an isomer of lactose – milk sugar) galactose and fructose – not more than 10%.
Dosage and Administration
Lactusan Syrup: adults – 2 teaspoons 2 times a day (10 ml 2 times a day) for children – 1 teaspoon 2 times a day (5 ml 2 times a day) with meals, for 7-14 days.
The clinical effect occurs 2-3 days after the start of taking Lactusan. The duration of admission is 7-14 days. With advanced dysbiosis, the duration of taking Lactusan increases by 1.5-2 times.
General healing effect on an aging body: the daily dose of Lactusan should be at least 20 ml.
Side effects
In the first days of taking Lactusan, flatulence may occur, which lasts for 3 days.
Sometimes a laxative effect is observed.
Overdose
With an overdose, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea are possible, which requires dose adjustment of Lactusan.
If high doses are used for a long time in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy, a patient may develop electrolyte imbalance due to diarrhea.
