Pharmacological action
Novo-Passit – combined phytopreparation with sedative effect, pharmacological activity is due to its constituent components of the extract based on medicinal raw materials with predominantly sedative effect and guaifenesin, possessing anxiolytic effect. The sedative effect of the drug is supplemented by the anxiolytic effect of guaifenesin.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, myasthenia gravis, children under 12 years old.
Caution should be used in patients with acute gastrointestinal diseases, liver diseases, chronic alcoholism, diseases and brain injuries, and epilepsy.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, and during breastfeeding, consult your doctor.
Special instructions
The drug contains 12.19% ethanol. Each single dose contains up to 0.481 g of ethanol. During treatment with the drug should not drink alcoholic beverages.
While taking Novo-Passit, especially for patients with fair skin, exposure to ultraviolet radiation (prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, visiting the solarium) should be avoided.
You should not drive vehicles or machinery while taking the drug. The drug is not recommended for patients with impaired absorption of glucose and galactose and with congenital intolerance to fructose.
In the event that within 7 days the symptoms of the disease do not disappear, or if they intensify, as well as in case of side effects or other unusual reactions, it is recommended to consult a doctor.
Indication for patients with diabetes mellitus: 100 g of the drug contains 12.5-14.2 g of glucose and 13.6-15.3 g of fructose. When taken in recommended doses, each dose contains not more than 1.42 g of glucose and 1.53 g of fructose.

Dosage and administration of
Novo-Passit is taken orally, for adults and children over 12 years old – 5 ml (1 teaspoon) or 1 tablet. 3 times a day. If necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 10 mg or 2 tablets. 3 times a day. The dose can be changed depending on the response of the patient.
The drug can be taken with drinks (tea, juice). In case of nausea, the drug should be taken with meals. Since the drug usually does not cause drowsiness or loss of attention in recommended doses, it can be taken in the daytime.
Children under 12 years of age should only be prescribed by a doctor! The dose is selected individually, taking into account age and tolerance. The recommended starting dose is 1/2 teaspoon or 1/2 tablet. the day before bedtime.
Side effects of
In rare cases, dizziness, lethargy, fatigue, drowsiness, allergic reactions, exanthema, decreased concentration of gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, cramping, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation) are possible.
Drug Interactions
With the simultaneous administration of Novo-Passit ® and other drugs, their effect may be enhanced or weakened. Before you start taking the drug at the same time as other drugs, you should consult your doctor.
The drug enhances the effects of alcohol and other substances that inhibit the central nervous system.
Medicines used to relax skeletal muscles (central muscle relaxation) can increase the risk of side effects of the drug, especially muscle weakness.
St. John’s wort extract contained in the preparation reduces the effectiveness of hormonal contraception, as well as medicines, used primarily after transplantation to reduce the risk of rejection of the transplanted organ or tissue (immunosuppressive drugs), drugs intended for the treatment of AIDS, cardiovascular diseases, bronchial diseases and the prevention of thromboembolism. Therefore, before taking Novo-Passit ® against the background of these drugs, you must consult your doctor.
Overdose
Overdose is initially manifested by feeling overwhelmed and drowsy. Later, these symptoms may be accompanied by nausea, mild muscle weakness, joint pain, and a feeling of heaviness in the stomach. If symptoms of overdose appear, the drug should be discontinued. Treatment is symptomatic. You should consult a doctor.
