Pharmacological action
Asterisk Noz – a vasoconstrictor for nasal use, an alpha-adrenostimulator, narrows the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating edema and hyperemia of the mucous membrane.
Facilitates nasal breathing in rhinitis.
Action occurs in a few minutes and lasts for several hours.
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to the components of the drug, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, thyrotoxicosis, surgical interventions on the meninges (history), pregnancy, childhood (up to 6 years).
Precautions: lactation, coronary heart disease (angina pectoris), prostatic hyperplasia, diabetes mellitus.
Special instructions
Frequent and prolonged use in chronic diseases of the nasopharynx is not recommended.
For “colds” in cases where crusts form in the nose, it is preferable to prescribe in the form of a gel.
Do not use simultaneously with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
Composition of
10 ml of solution contain:
Active ingredient:
– xylometazoline hydrochloride 10 mg.
Excipients:
sodium dihydrogen phosphate,
sodium hydrogen phosphate,
sodium chloride,
benzalkonium chloride,
purified water.
Dosage and Administration
Intranasally.
Adults and children over 6 years of age: 2-3 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day.
Do not use more than 3 times a day.
Apply within 7-14 days.
Side effects
When used, it can cause burning in the nose and throat, local irritation, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion, dry nasal mucosa.
Allergic reactions possible.
Rarely:
– swelling of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, visual impairment
– depression (with prolonged use at high doses).
If symptoms occur, stop using the drug and consult a doctor.
Storage conditions
Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding + 25 ° С.
