Holisal – local anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, analgesic.
Pharmacodynamics
Choline salicylate has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. It inhibits the activity of cyclooxygenase, functions of macrophages and neutrophils, production of interleukin-1 and inhibits the synthesis of PG. It also has antimicrobial and antifungal effects (in acidic and alkaline environments).
The analgesic effect appears after 2-3 minutes and lasts 2-8 hours.
Cetalkonium chloride has an antiseptic effect on bacteria, fungi and viruses.
Holisal does not contain sugar, does not have a local irritant effect and is well tolerated by patients.
Pharmacokinetics
Choline salicylate is rapidly absorbed by the oral mucosa.
Indications
Infectious-inflammatory, ulcerative-necrotic, trophic diseases of the oral mucosa: stomatitis of various etiologies, gingivitis, periodontitis, damage to the mucous membrane when wearing dentures, injuries of the oral mucosa, teething pain in children, glandular x , thrush, minor surgeries, lichen planus, erythema multiforme exudative (including Stevens-Johnson syndrome) – as part of complex therapy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to salicylates and other components of the drug.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Possible with caution and only as directed by a doctor.
Composition of
1 g of gel contains:

cetalkonium chloride 0.1 mg

hydroxyethyl celluloxy sulfardyl acid
Dosage and administration
Locally, 2 3 times daily before meals (for pain relief) or after meals and at bedtime (unless otherwise prescribed).
Gel in an amount of 1 cm for adults and 0.5 cm for children is squeezed onto a clean finger and rubbed with light massaging movements into the affected area of the mucous membrane.
For periodontal disease: the gel is injected into the gingival pockets, applied as compresses or gently rubbed into the gums 1-2 times a day.
Side effects
Allergic reactions are possible, sometimes (with acute damage to the mucous membrane of the oral cavity)
is a short-term mild burning sensation that resolves on its own.
Drug interactions
Only in the event of a significant overdose of Cholisal due to the general effect of cholin salicylate is it possible to enhance the action of other anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic agents.
