Pharmacological action

Cough tablets have a bronchodilator effect.

Thermopsis herb has an expectorant effect, providing a moderate irritant effect on the receptors of the gastric mucosa, reflexively increases the secretion of bronchial glands.

Alkaloids contained in the grass of thermopsis (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycarpin, ana-gyrin, thermopsin, thermopsidin) have an exciting effect on the respiratory and, in high doses, on the emetic centers.

Sodium bicarbonate stimulates the secretion of bronchial glands, helps to reduce the viscosity of sputum.

Indications

Diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by cough with sputum difficult to separate (tracheitis, bronchitis) – as part of complex therapy.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (in the acute phase).

Pregnancy.

Lactation.

Special instructions

To improve liquefaction and sputum removal, a heavy, warm drink is recommended.

Dosage and Administration

Inside. Adults are prescribed 1 tablet 3 times a day for 3-5 days. Children over 12 years old – 1/2 -1 tablet 3 times a day for 3-5 days. Duration of treatment – on the recommendation of a doctor.

Drug Interactions

Adsorbents, astringents and enveloping agents can reduce the absorption of the alkaloids that make up the grass of thermopsis in the gastrointestinal tract.

Cough tablets should not be used concomitantly with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive medicines, as this makes coughing up sputum difficult. To improve liquefaction and separation of sputum, it is recommended to prescribe a plentiful warm drink.
