Pharmacological action of

Licorice root syrup is a herbal preparation derived from the licorice root rhizomes (Glycyrrhiza glabra). Licorice roots contain glycyrrhizic acid and glycyrrhizin, which determine their therapeutic effect. The content of glycyrrhizic acid and glycyrrhizin in licorice roots reaches from 2 to 15% of the total mass. Another important group of biologically active substances in the licorice root are 27 flavonoid compounds represented by Glycyrrhiza glabra licorice, flavonoids, chalcones and their isoforms. The amount of flavonoids can reach 1-2%. In addition, licorice roots contain polysaccharides, coumarins and essential oils. From licorice root rhizomes, in addition to licorice root syrup, they also produce an intimate epigen spray and an epigen gel, but only glycyrrhizic acid activated in them due to molecular activation.
