Pharmacological action
Has an antimicrobial effect, has mucolytic properties. Helps increase non-specific resistance of the body.
Pharmacokinetics
Liquid extract of the roots of the pelargonium sidoid contains a large number of biologically active substances, which together determine its pharmacological activity. Therefore, data on the pharmacokinetics of individual chemical components that make up the extract are insufficient for extrapolation to the drug as a whole.
Indications
As part of complex therapy: acute and chronic infections of the respiratory tract, ear, throat and nose (including sinusitis, rhinopharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis).

With caution, the drug should be used for alcoholism, traumatic brain injury, diseases of the brain, impaired liver and kidney function (there is no experience with the use), in children older than 1 year.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Due to the lack of sufficient research data to date, the drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Composition
1 g of oral solution contains:
Active substances: liquid extract of the roots of the pelargonium sidoid (1: 9-11) * 800 mg.
* – extractant: ethanol 12 vol.%.
Excipients: glycerol 85%.
Dosage and administration
The drug should be taken 30 minutes before a meal, with a small amount of liquid.
For children from 1 year to 6 years: 5-10 drops 3 times / day.
For children aged 6 to 12 years: 10-20 drops 3 times / day.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: 20-30 drops 3 times / day.
The average duration of a course of treatment is 10 days. After the symptoms disappear, it is recommended that treatment be continued for several days to prevent relapse.
If it is necessary to continue treatment, especially in the chronic course of the disease or with frequent relapses, it is recommended that adults and children over 12 years of age take 10-20 drops 3 times / day after consulting a doctor.
Side effects
The drug is characterized by good tolerance.
From the digestive system: rarely – nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, diarrhea.
Other: allergic reactions possible.
Drug Interaction
With the simultaneous use of Umkalor with anticoagulants (coumarin derivatives), their anticoagulant action may increase and bleeding may occur (nosebleeds, bleeding gums).
Overdose
There have been no reports of an overdose of Umkalor at this time.
Storage conditions
The drug should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature of 15 ° to 25 ° C.
Expiration
2 years. After opening the vial, store for no more than 3 months.
