Desloratadine Canon is a long-acting antihistamine
is the primary active metabolite of loratadine and inhibits a cascade of allergic inflammation reactions, including the release of inflammatory cytokines, including interleukins IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-13, the release of pro-inflammatory chemokines (RANTES), production of superoxide anions by activated polymorphonuclear neutrophils, adhesion and chemotaxis of eosinophils, isolation of adhesion molecules such as P-selectin, IgE-mediated release of histamine, prostaglandin D2 and leukotriene C4.
Thus, it prevents the development and facilitates the course of allergic reactions, has an antipruritic and antiexudative effect, reduces capillary permeability, prevents the development of tissue edema, smooth muscle spasm.
The drug does not affect the central nervous system, practically does not have a sedative effect (does not cause drowsiness) and does not affect the speed of psychomotor reactions. Does not cause prolongation of the QT interval on the ECG.
Desloratadine begins within 30 minutes after ingestion and lasts 24 hours.
Pharmacokinetics: Only a small portion of the oral dose is excreted by the kidneys (<2%) and through the intestines (<7%). The elimination half-life is 20-30 hours (on average - 27 hours). Indications – Allergic rhinitis (elimination or relief of sneezing, nasal congestion, nasal mucus, itching in the nose, itching of the palate, itching and redness of the eyes, lacrimation) – urticaria (reduction or elimination of skin itching, rash). Contraindications – Hypersensitivity to any of the substances that make up the preparation – pregnancy and lactation – under the age of 12 years. Precautions: Severe chronic renal failure. Use during pregnancy and lactation The drug Desloratadine Canon is not recommended for use during pregnancy, as there have been no clinical trials and the safety of use during pregnancy has not been established. Desloratadine passes into breast milk, therefore, women who are breast-feeding should not take Desloratadine Canon.
