Drug Interactions
Probenecid, phenylbutazone, oxyphenbutazone, diuretics, allopurinol, NSAIDs, to a lesser extent acetylsalicylic acid and sulfinpyrazone suppress tubular secretion of penicillins, which leads to an increase in blood T1 / 2 and an increase in blood plasma concentration of T1 / 2.
Bactericidal antibiotics (including aminoglycosides, cephalosporins, vancomycin, rifampicin) exhibit synergism while taking them.
Antagonism is possible when taken with certain bacteriostatic drugs (e.g. chloramphenicol, sulfonamides).
Concomitant use of amoxicillin with estrogen-containing oral contraceptives can reduce the effectiveness of the latter and increase the risk of acyclic bleeding.
Antacids, glucosamine, laxatives, aminoglycosides, food reduce absorption. Ascorbic acid enhances absorption.
Increases the effectiveness of indirect anticoagulants (suppresses the intestinal microflora, reduces the synthesis of vitamin K and the prothrombin index) enhances the absorption of digoxin.
The simultaneous use of amoxicillin with allopurinol increases the risk of skin rash.
Overdose
Symptoms: Gastrointestinal dysfunction – nausea, vomiting, diarrhea The result of vomiting and diarrhea can be a violation of the water-electrolyte balance.
