Pharmacological action
Sulfocamphocaine – a combined drug that has an analeptic effect. Stimulates the respiratory and vasomotor centers of the medulla oblongata. It has a direct effect on the myocardium, enhancing metabolic processes in it, improving functions and increasing its sensitivity to sympathetic impulse. Increases the tone of peripheral blood vessels. Improves pulmonary ventilation, pulmonary blood flow.
Due to its solubility in water, the drug is rapidly absorbed by subcutaneous and intramuscular administration. Does not cause the formation of infiltrates and complications (oleomas). Perhaps intravenous administration.

acute and chronic respiratory failure
cardiogenic and anaphylactic shock.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug (including novocaine).
Caution: arterial hypotension.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Due to the lack of data on the use of sulfocamphocaine during pregnancy and during breastfeeding, its use during these periods is not recommended.
Special instructions
Caution should be exercised when administering the drug to patients with low blood pressure due to the possibility of developing a hypotensive effect of novocaine released in the body from sulfocamphocaine.
Composition of
1 ml of injection contains: active ingredients: sulfocamphoric acid (in terms of anhydrous) 49.6 mg, procaine base (procaine) 50.4 mg
excipient: water for injection up to 1 ml.
Dosage and Administration
Sulfocamphocaine is administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously in 2 ml of a 10% solution (0.2 g), if necessary, the frequency of administration is up to 2-3 times a day. The maximum daily dose for adults is 12 ml of a 10% solution (1.2 g). In acute cases, the drug is administered intravenously (slowly in a stream or drip) in a single dose of 2 ml of a 10% solution.
Duration of use is set individually. In chronic respiratory and heart failure is administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly for 20-30 days.
Side effects
Dyspeptic disorders, allergic reactions are possible with the use of the drug. A decrease in blood pressure is possible (especially in patients with initial arterial hypotension).
Drug interaction
The use of sulfocamphocaine in combination with cardiac glycosides, steroid hormones, analgesics enhances the analeptic effect of the drug.
