Birch mushroom (chaga) (Fungus betulinus) is used in the form of infusion and for the preparation of “Befungin”, used as a painkiller and tonic for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and as a symptomatic tool that improves the general condition of cancer patients.
Use in scientific medicine: used for chronic gastritis, dyskinesia of the gastrointestinal tract with the phenomena of atony, with peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, and also as a symptomatic remedy for cancer.
Application in traditional medicine: Chaga has long been used in traditional medicine against cancer of internal organs, although it is not a means of relieving a patient of a tumor and does not inhibit its growth. Its popularity is explained by the fact that decoctions and infusions of the fungus have a beneficial effect even on severe patients: they feel better, and pain decreases.
In folk medicine, various extracts of birch fungus have been known for external or internal use. External use in the form of lotions and ointment formulations contributes to the effective and rapid healing of wounds, burns, inflammations, and the restoration of a healthy skin condition.
