Pharmacological action
Mardil Selenium is a solution of selenic acid (0.45% in terms of selenium) in 70% 2.2-dichloropropionic acid. When applied topically to affected areas of the skin, the drug is able to interrupt the growth and vital activity of pathologically altered cells, including benign neoplasms of the skin and malignant non-metastatic skin tumors through angiocoagulation, dehydration and devitalization. The effect of the drug on the affected area of the skin provides direct intravital fixation, followed by mummification of pathologically altered tissue, with which the drug comes into contact. The direct effect of the drug is expressed in the appearance of a characteristic whitish-gray or grayish color. The tissue devitalized after exposure to the drug is dehydrated and, with mummification, acquires a dark brown color. The resulting mummified scab exfoliates after complete re-epithelialization, after 2-4 weeks, healing takes place without complications, especially in the absence of a secondary infection, without leaving significant scars and scars, deformations of adjacent tissues or organ dysfunctions.
Pharmacokinetics
When applying the drug Mardil Selenium to the affected areas of the skin, absorption of active substances and their systemic effects on the body were not found.
Contraindications
malignant skin tumors, prone to metastasis
pronounced tendency to form keloids

Special instructions
Handle with care.
Before opening the bottle, shake it and move the solution that got into the top of the bottle to its bottom. The opened bottle should be in a strictly upright position.
Mardil Selen contains acid in its composition. Avoid contact with healthy skin or mucous membranes. If the drug Mardil Selen accidentally gets on healthy skin or mucous membrane, it is necessary to remove the drug as soon as possible with a cotton swab moistened with water. In the treatment of affected skin areas located near the eye area, special precautions should be observed. Avoid contact with eyes. If Mardil Selen accidentally gets into your eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and 1% sodium bicarbonate solution, and then consult a doctor.
Do not remove the mummified scab by scraping or using mechanical means. The scab should separate from healthy skin on its own, otherwise a violation of the healing processes of the tissues and the formation of scars is possible. Until complete healing of the skin is achieved, it is not recommended to bathe in pools and open water, and exposure to direct sunlight and ultraviolet radiation should also be avoided. On the day of treatment, it is recommended to limit water procedures. It is advisable to avoid trauma and contamination of the treated pathological focus until complete epithelization.
Disposal of used vials: Before discarding the vial, rinse off the remaining product in running water. An empty bottle can be thrown into the trash bin.

Dosage and Administration
Topically
Treatment of basal cell carcinoma. Treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis, under the supervision of a doctor. The procedure does not require anesthesia. The preparation is applied with a thin wooden spatula or with the help of the enclosed glass capillary onto the previously formed surface of 70% ethanol free of ethanol. The treatment is carried out in several applications with an interval of 1-2 minutes, capturing 1-2 mm of apparently healthy skin, until a dense whitish-gray color appears. Tissue discoloration occurs within 2-3 minutes after application of the drug. At the same time, the consistency of the neoplasm changes to a denser one. The dose of the drug depends on the stage, clinical form and density of the tumor and can be up to 0.2 ml. The maximum daily dose is 0.2 ml. The standard course of treatment for basal cell carcinoma of the 1st stage includes 3-fold treatment of the tumor and is carried out on 1, 2 or 3 days and 8 or 9 Additional, 4 application Mardil Selen is allowed after the rejection of the mummified scab at the discretion of the doctor. Around the neoplasm after the application of the drug Mardil Selenium, a transient strip of hyperemia and edema is observed, which passes 24-48 hours after the completion of the procedure. Any additional therapeutic measures after the application of the drug is not required. The next day after application, the pathological focus is mummified, acquires a dark brown hue and sharply decreases in size. Mummified scab is separated only after complete epithelization spontaneously after 2-4 weeks. Healing is without complications, especially in the absence of a secondary infection, without leaving significant scars, scars and deformations of adjacent tissues or organ dysfunctions.
Treatment of benign skin tumors, vascular benign skin neoplasms, benign skin lesions of viral origin. Treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis under the supervision of a physician. The standard procedure is performed once and does not require anesthesia. The preparation is applied with a thin wooden spatula or with the help of the enclosed glass capillary onto the previously formed surface of 70% ethanol free of ethanol. Processing is carried out by several applications with an interval of 1-2 minutes until a whitish-gray or grayish staining appears. Tissue color change occurs within 2-3 minutes after application of the drug, in the presence of severe hyperkeratosis within 5-7 minutes. At the same time, the consistency of the neoplasm changes to a denser one. The dose of the drug depends on the type, size, density and severity of hyperkeratosis and can range from 0.02 ml to 0.2 ml. The maximum daily dose is 0.2 ml.
Around the neoplasm after the application of the drug Mardil Selen, a transient strip of hyperemia and edema is observed, which disappears without a trace 24-48 hours after the completion of the procedure. Any additional therapeutic measures after the application of the drug is not required. The next day after application, the pathological focus is mummified, acquires a dark brown hue and sharply decreases in size. Mummified scabs are separated only after complete epithelization spontaneously after 2-3 weeks. Healing is without complications, especially in the absence of a secondary infection, without leaving significant scars, scars and deformations of adjacent tissues or organ dysfunctions.
In case of large neoplasms and neoplasms with severe hyperkeratosis, if they are not completely removed, reapplication of the drug is possible.
Side effects
Using the drug Mardil Selenium can lead to a change in skin pigmentation and the formation of superficial cicatricial changes. With the normal course of the epithelization process, the absence of a secondary infection and the independent separation of mummified scabs, the probability of such consequences is small. Swelling of the tissue can be observed, very rarely, with individual sensitivity to the components of the drug, allergic reactions in the form of skin itching are possible.
Drug Interactions
The interaction of the drug Mardil Selen with other external drugs has not been established.
Overdose
If used improperly, Mardil Selenium must be washed off with running water to prevent damage to deeper layers of the skin.
Healing can occur on its own without the use of additional drugs or with the use of wound healing drugs.
