Description
Description
The fruit is an ovule, consisting of two semi-fronds that are sometimes not separated from each other (moss). Fruits are ovoid or pear-shaped, slightly flattened laterally, wider towards the base, narrowed to the apex.
At the apex are the remains of a five-toothed calyx and a swollen suprastatic disc with two diverging columns. The surface of the fruit is rough. The outer side is convex, the inner is flat. Each merikarp has five weakly protruding longitudinal ribs: three of them are on the convex side, two on the sides. In the mericarp, there is one seed fused with pericarp. The length of the fruit is 3-5 mm, the width is 2-3 mm.
The color of the fruit is yellowish gray or brownish gray. The smell is strong, fragrant. The taste of the water extract is sweet and spicy.
Anise fruits contain essential oil, fatty oil and other biologically active substances.
