Pharmacological action
Ascoril is a combined drug with bronchodilator and expectorant action.
Salbutamol is a selective 2-adrenoreceptor agonist, has a bronchodilator effect, and relieves bronchospasm.
Bromhexine has a mucolytic effect.
Reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretions by depolarizing acid polysaccharides and stimulating the secretory cells of the mucous membranes of the bronchi.
Guaifenesin reduces the surface tension and adhesive properties of sputum, promotes its expectoration.
Indications
Bronchial asthma acute and chronic bronchitis bronchiectasis atelectasis emphysema pneumonia pertussis pulmonary tuberculosis other bronchospastic conditions.
Contraindications
Tachycardia of cardiac arrhythmias hypersensitivity to the drug.
Special instructions
Use the drug with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, severe diseases of the cardiovascular system, hypertension, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer.
Composition of
1 tablet contains:
salbutamol – 2 mg,
bromhexine – 8 mg,
guaifenesin – 100 mg.
Dosage and administration of
Ascoril is taken orally.
Dosage for adults and children over 12 years of age is 1 tablet 3 times a day.
For children aged 6 to 12 years, Ascoril is prescribed 1/2 tablet 3 times a day.
Side effects
Rarely: hand tremor, tachycardia, muscle cramps.
When used in high doses – tachycardia, headache, peripheral vasodilation.
Drug Interactions
Other beta2-adrenergic agonists and theophylline enhance the effects of salbutamol and increase the likelihood of side effects.
Ascoril is not prescribed simultaneously with preparations containing codeine and other antitussive agents, as this makes it difficult to discharge liquefied sputum.
Ascoril bromhexine, which is part of the drug, promotes the penetration of antibiotics (erythromycin, cephalexin, oxytetracycline) into the lung tissue.
It is not recommended to use the drug Ascoril simultaneously with non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blockers, such as propranolol.
Ascoril salbutamol, a part of the drug, is not recommended for patients who receive MAO inhibitors.
Diuretics and corticosteroids enhance the hypokalemic effect of salbutamol.

Overdose
Symptoms: increased manifestations of side effects.
Treatment: symptomatic therapy.
