Pharmacological action
Complivit Calcium D3 – a combined drug whose action is due to its constituent components. Complivit calcium D3 regulates the exchange of calcium and phosphorus in the body (bones, teeth, nails, hair, muscles).
Reduces resorption and increases bone density, replenishes the lack of calcium and vitamin D3 in the body, enhances the absorption of calcium in the intestines and reabsorption of phosphates in the kidneys, promotes bone mineralization.
Calcium – is involved in the formation of bone tissue, blood coagulation, in maintaining stable cardiac activity, in the implementation of the processes of transmission of nerve impulses.
Vitamin D3 (colecalciferol) – promotes the absorption of calcium in the intestines, the formation and mineralization of bone tissue and tooth tissue.
The use of calcium and vitamin D3 prevents the increase in the production of parathyroid hormone, which is a stimulator of increased bone resorption.
Complivit Calcium D3 is approved for use in children from three years.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components Complivit calcium D3, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, calcium nephrourolithiasis, hypervitaminosis D, decalcifying tumors (myeloma, bone metastases, sarcoidosis), osteoporosis due to immobilization, phenylketonuria (contains aspartame), pulmonary tuberculosis (active form), chronic renal failure, children under 3 years of age.

Use during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy, the daily dose should not exceed 1500 mg of calcium and 600 IU of vitamin D3.
Vitamin D and its metabolites may pass into breast milk.
Overdose during pregnancy can lead to a violation of the mental and physical development of the child.
Special instructions
Complivit Calcium D3 contains aspartame, which is converted into phenylalanine in the body, so patients with phenylketonuria should not take the drug.
During treatment, it is necessary to constantly monitor the excretion of calcium in the urine and the concentration of calcium and creatine in the blood plasma (in case of calciuria exceeding 7.5 mmol / day (300 mg / day), it is necessary to reduce the dose or stop taking it).
In older people, the need for calcium is 1500 mg / day, in vitamin D3 – 0.5-1 thousand IU / day.
In order to avoid overdose, it is necessary to consider the additional intake of vitamin D3 from other sources.
Composition
Calcium 500 mg (as carbonate) + 200 IU Vitamin D3

Dosage and administration
Inside, chew or swallow whole, mainly with food.
Adults: in the treatment of osteoporosis – 1 tablet 2-3 times a day, for the prevention of osteoporosis – 1 tablet 2 times a day.
With a deficiency of calcium and vitamin D:
Adults and children over 12 years of age – 1 tablet 1-2 times a day.
Children from 5 years to 12 years – 1-2 tablets per day.
Children from 3 to 5 years old – dosage in accordance with the doctor’s recommendations.
Side effects
Allergic reactions. Dyspeptic disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (constipation, flatulence, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea).
Hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria (elevated levels of calcium in the blood and urine).
Drug Interactions
Vitamin D3 activity may decrease when used concomitantly with phenytoin or barbiturates.
With simultaneous treatment with cardiac glycosides, ECG and clinical status monitoring is necessary, as calcium preparations can potentiate the therapeutic and toxic effects of cardiac glycosides.
Calcium and vitamin D3 preparations can increase the absorption of tetracyclines from the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, the time interval between doses of drugs should be at least 3 hours.
To prevent a decrease in the absorption of sodium bisphosphonates or sodium fluoride preparations, it is recommended to take Complivit Calcium D3 no earlier than two hours after their administration.
Glucocorticosteroids reduce the absorption of calcium, therefore treatment with glucocorticosteroids may require an increase in the dose of Complivit Calcium D3.
Concomitant treatment with cholesterol or mineral or vegetable oil laxatives may decrease the absorption of vitamin D3.
With the simultaneous use of thiazide-type diuretics, the risk of hypercalcemia increases, since they increase tubular reabsorption of calcium. Furosemide and other loop diuretics, on the contrary, increase the excretion of calcium by the kidneys.
