Pharmacological action
Pharmaceutical group: A drug used externally for colds and coughs.
Pharmaceutical action: Vicks Active Balm with menthol and eucalyptus – a combined drug whose action is due to the components, included in its composition.
It has a local irritant, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect. A decrease in the degree of nasal congestion with a single application of the drug is observed up to 8 hours.
Indications
As part of the complex treatment of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by:
– runny nose
– nasal congestion
– cough and sore throat.
Contraindications
– tendency to laryngo- and bronchospasm
– bronchial asthma
– whooping cough
– false croup (acute stenosing laryngotracheitis)
– cough caused by congestion of sputum, chronic mucus (mucus) caused by smoking or emphysema
– damage to the skin and skin diseases in the area of ​​the alleged application of the drug
– children under 2 years of age
– hypersensitivity to the components of the drug Vicks Active Balm with menthol and eucalyptus.
Use in pregnancy and lactation
Due to the lack of experience in pregnant and lactating women, the appointment of the drug Vicks Active Balm with menthol and eucalyptus is not recommended for this group.
Special instructions
Do not swallow. Do not apply Vicks Active Balm with menthol and eucalyptus to the skin in the nose and / or face. Avoid contact with the eyes, the mucous membranes of the nose, and mouth. In case of accidental contact with the ointment in the eyes and mucous membranes, plentiful washing with water is recommended.
Never heat a drug or use it in a heated state.
After rubbing, clothing covering the application area should not be tightened too much.
If you do not feel better within 5 days or get worse, you should consult a doctor.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms
The use of the drug does not adversely affect the ability to perform potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (including driving and other vehicles, working with moving mechanisms, etc.).

camphor 5 g
eucalyptus oil 1. 5 g
turpentine oil 5 g
Excipients: thymol – 0.25 g, cedar oil – 0.45 g, white soft paraffin – up to 100 g.
Dosage and administration
External use (rubbing). Only for adults and children over 2 years old.
Rub the ointment with light movements 2-4 times a day into the skin of the chest with a runny nose and nasal congestion in the skin of the neck when coughing and sore throat in the skin of the back when coughing. The duration of treatment is an average of up to 5 days.
Side effects
Allergic reactions, laryngospasm, bronchospasm, possible skin irritation in the area of application of the drug, lacrimation.
