Pharmacological action
Nooholin Rompharm – a nootropic drug, central cholinomimetic with a primary effect on the central nervous system. The drug contains 40.5% metabolically protected choline. Choline alfoscerate in the body under the influence of brain enzymes is broken down into choline and glycerophosphate. Choline is involved in the synthesis of acetylcholine, transmitting nerve impulses and improving brain function, and glycerophosphate is a precursor of phosphatidylcholine neuron membranes.
Choline alfoscerate improves cerebral blood flow, strengthens metabolic processes in the brain, activates the structure of the reticular formation of the brain and restores consciousness in traumatic brain damage.
Clinical studies have shown that choline alfoscerate stimulates dose-dependent release of acetylcholine under physiological conditions of neurotransmission.

Distribution
Easily penetrates into various tissues and organs, including to the brain.
Excretion
It is excreted mainly by the lungs in the form of carbon dioxide (85%), and also excreted by the kidneys and through the intestines (15%).
Indications
acute period of traumatic brain injury with predominantly stem lesion level
psycho-organic syndrome against the background of degenerative and involutional changes in the brain
consequences of cerebrovascular insufficiency (impaired mental function)
multi-infarct dementia.
Contraindications
Hemorrhagic stroke (acute stage) hypersensitivity to the drug.

Dosage and administration of
In acute conditions – intramuscularly or intravenously (slowly), 1 g per day for 15-20 days then go on oral administration of 0.8 g in the morning and 0.4 g in the afternoon for 6 months.
Side effects
From the digestive system: constipation, diarrhea, dry oral mucosa, pharyngitis.
From the nervous system: headache, drowsiness, insomnia, aggression, anxiety, nervousness, cerebral ischemia, dizziness.
From the skin: rash, urticaria.
Other: pain at the injection site, increased urination.
Overdose
Symptoms: in case of an overdose, nausea is noted that disappears after a dose reduction or treatment discontinuation.
Treatment: symptomatic treatment.
