Indications

Infectious and inflammatory eye diseases caused by susceptible microorganisms (acute and subacute conjunctivitis, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, bacterial corneal ulcer, chronic dacritiosis, myocardial infarction) postoperative prevention of infectious complications in ophthalmic surgery.

ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (in terms of ciprofloxacin) 0.3 g

Excipients: nipagin (methyl parahydroxybenzoate), medical vaseline anhydrous lanolin.

Side effects

Allergic reactions, itching, burning, mild soreness and hyperemia of the conjunctiva, nausea, rarely – eyelid edema, photophobia, lacrimation, foreign body sensation in the eyes, an unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth immediately after application, decreased visual acuity, the appearance of white crystalline precipitate in patients with corneal ulcers, keratitis, keratopathy, corneal infiltration, the development of superinfection.

Drug Interaction

No interaction of Oftocipro eye ointment with other drugs has been detected with concomitant use. There are reports that the systemic use of some quinolones leads to increased plasma concentrations of theophylline, affects the metabolism of caffeine and enhances the action of oral anticoagulants (including warfarin and its derivatives). Temporal elevation of serum creatinine has been reported in patients who were prescribed cyclosporine together with systemic administration of ciprofloxacin.

Overdose

Symptoms: There are no specific symptoms when taken accidentally. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, fainting, anxiety may occur.

Treatment: standard emergency measures, sufficient fluid intake, and an acidic urine reaction to prevent crystalluria.
