Pharmacological action

Gel Clindovit 1% is an antibiotic from the group of lincosamides.

– Active against all strains of Propionibacterium acnes.

MIC – 0.4 mcg / ml.

Inhibits protein synthesis in a microbial cell by interacting with 50S ribosome subunits.

Clindamycin phosphate is not active in vitro, but after application to the skin, it is rapidly hydrolyzed by phosphatases in the ducts of the sebaceous glands with the formation of clindamycin, which has antibacterial activity. After application to the skin, the amount of free fatty acids on the surface of the skin decreases from about 14% to 2%.

Indications

Treatment for acne (acne vulgaris).

Contraindications

– Crohn’s disease.

– ulcerative colitis (including a history of).

– Pseudomembranous colitis (including a history of).

– Hypersensitivity to clindamycin or lincomycin.

Caution:

– In patients under 12 years of age (safety and efficacy data not available).

– Betweenlactation (breastfeeding).

– In patients predisposed to the development of allergic reactions.

– While taking muscle relaxants.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Clindovit can be used externally during pregnancy if the intended benefit of the therapy to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

If necessary, use during lactation, breastfeeding is recommended to be discontinued.

Dosage and administration

The drug is used externally.

Gel is applied in a thin layer on the affected part of previously cleaned and dried skin 2-3 times / day. To obtain a therapeutic effect, treatment should be continued for 6-8 weeks, and if necessary, you can continue up to 6 months.

Side effects

The drug is usually well tolerated.

– Local reactions: Possible irritation (at the place of application), burning, itching, dry skin, erythema, peeling, increased secretion of sebum, contact dermatitis.

– Systemic reactions: Pseudomembranous enterocolitis (the likelihood of development is with systemic absorption of clindamycin).
