Pharmacological action
Blocker of histamine H1 receptors from the ethanolamine group. The drug has hypnotic, sedative and m-anticholinergic effects.
Reduces the time of falling asleep, increases the duration and quality of sleep, while not changing the phase of sleep. Duration of action – 6-8 hours.
Indications
Sleep disorders, insomnia.

Special instructions
Patients who are shown a diet with a restriction of salt should be aware that each effervescent tablet contains 484 mg of sodium.
Alcohol should be avoided while taking Donormil.
The patient should be informed that when waking up in the middle of the night after taking the drug, lethargy or dizziness is possible.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms
Caution is advised to prescribe the drug to patients involved in potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
Composition
Active ingredient:
doxylamine succinate 15 mg
Excipients:
sodium lactose 100 mg mg lactose 100 mg microcrystalline cellulose – 15 mg,
magnesium stearate – 2 mg.
Film composition:
macrogol 6000 – 1 mg, hypromellose – 2.3 mg, Sepispers AR 7001 (hypromellose – 2-4%, titanium dioxide CI 77891 – 25-31%, propylene glycol – 30-40%, water – up to 100%) – 0.7 mg.
Dosage and Administration
Patients over the age of 15 are prescribed 1 / 2-1 tablets 15-30 minutes before bedtime. The duration of treatment is up to 2 weeks.
Before taking the effervescent tablet, dissolve the coated tablet in 1/2 cup of water and wash it down with water.
Side effects
Side effects associated with the anticholinergic effect of the drug: dry mouth, accommodation disturbances, constipation, urinary retention.
Drug Interactions
When taken with antidepressants, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, clonidine, opioid analgesics, antipsychotics, tranquilizers, the inhibitory effect of Donormil on the central nervous system is observed.
While taking Donormil with atropine or other atropine-like drugs, imipramine, antiparkinsonian anticholinergics, disopyramide, phenothiazine derivatives, the risk of anticholinergic side effects increases: dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention.
Ethanol enhances the sedative effect of Donormil.
Overdose
Symptoms: drowsiness, agitation, mydriasis, paralysis of accommodation, hyperemia of the skin of the face and neck, hyperthermia, dry mouth, convulsions, sinus tachycardia. The phase of excitement and convulsions may precede the state of depression.
Treatment: Symptomatic therapy is carried out if necessary. According to testimony, anticonvulsants and IVL are used.
