Pharmacological action of
FORMAGEL GEL is a colorless gel containing 3.7% formaldehyde. It has a deodorizing and disinfecting effect. Formaldehyde has the ability to suppress the function of sweat glands, regardless of the type of secretion. The dosage form in the form of a gel provides the best penetration of the active substance into the skin and the duration of its action.
Indications
Increased sweating of various etiologies.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to drugs, formalin-containing inflammatory skin diseases.
Composition
1 g of gel contains formaldehyde (formalin) 100 mg (corresponds to 37 mg formaldehyde), excipients a: water-soluble methylcellulose purified water – up to 1 g
Dosage and administration of
On clean and dry skin of areas of the body with increased sweating (skin of axillary cavities, soles and interdigital surfaces, palms) the gel is applied in a thin layer for 30-40 minutes (consumption of the drug is about 4 g per treatment). Then the drug is washed off with warm water and the skin is thoroughly dried. One procedure is enough to reduce sweating of the skin for 10-12 days, after which the procedure can be repeated. With pronounced sweating, the skin is treated for 2-3 days in a row.
Side effects
Dry skin may develop with prolonged use of the drug. In this case, the use of formagel is temporarily canceled.
