Pharmacological action
Bacteriostatic antibiotic. It belongs to the group of fusidines, antimicrobial compounds, the mechanism of action of which is associated with a violation of protein synthesis in the bacterial cell.
Gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative cocci are susceptible to fusidic acid, for example, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidemridis (including methicillin-resistant strains), Nocardia asteroides, Corynebacterium minutissimum, Streptococcus pyogenesr.
Not active against Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., as well as protozoa and mushrooms.
Indications
Skin infections caused by bacteria sensitive to fusidic acid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Use in pregnancy and lactation
Experimental studies have shown that Fucidin G does not have embryotoxic and teratogenic effects. With external use of Futsidin G, the secretion of both fusidic acid and hydrocortisone with breast milk is unlikely due to low systemic adsorption. Since the study of women during pregnancy and lactation was not carried out, during pregnancy the drug should not be used for a long time and in large quantities, with breastfeeding – the drug should not be applied to the mammary glands.
