Pharmacological (biological) properties and effects of

Combined insecticaricidal preparation with contact action. Contains fipronil and S-metoprene as active ingredients.

Fipronil is an insecticide of the phenylpyrazole group, the mechanism of contact action is to block GABA-dependent arthropod receptors, impaired transmission of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of ectoparasites.

Metoprene – an analogue of juvenile hormone, an insect growth regulator disrupting chitin synthesis, causes anomalies in the development of insects at the egg and larva stages, and prevents the appearance of sexually mature insects in animals and in their places of detention.

Fiprist Combo is active against fleas (mature and preimaginal phases of development) Ctenocephalides spp. tongs Felicola subrostratus, Trichodectes canis ticks (all phases of development) Dermacentor variabilis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes scapularis, lxodes ricinus, Ixodes holocyclus, Haemaphysalis longicornis, Haemaphysalis flava, Haemaphysalis campanulata, Haemaphysalis leachi, Amblyomma americanum mosquito Aedes aegypti sarkoptoidnyh mite Sarcoptes scabiei var . canis.

After application to the skin, the active substances are gradually distributed over the entire surface of the animal ² „¢s body for 24 hours, practically not absorbed into the systemic circulation, accumulate in the epidermis, hair follicles and sebaceous glands, have a long contact effect, protecting the animal from ectoparasites.

A single treatment of the animal ensures the destruction of fleas and ticks within 24 and 48 hours, respectively. The protective effect of the drug against ixodid ticks continues in dogs up to 4 weeks against the mature and preimaginal phases of insect development in dogs – 4-12 weeks.

Fiprist Combo by its degree of exposure to the body refers to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), at the recommended doses it does not have a skin-irritating, resorptive-toxic, embryotoxic and teratogenic effect, if it gets into the eyes it causes a slight irritation. The drug is toxic to rabbits, as well as fish and other aquatic organisms.

Indications

Fiprist Combo is prescribed for dogs:

Contraindications

The use of Fiprist Combo is prohibited:

– for patients with infectious diseases and weakened animals

Composition

Excipients: povidone K25, polysorbate 80, butylhydroxyanisole (E320), butylhydroxytoluene (E321), ethanol 96%, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether – a sufficient amount of up to 1 ml.

Side effects

When using the drug in accordance with the instructions for side effects and complications in animals, as a rule, is not observed. It is very rare at the place of application of the drug that wool can stick together, a mild skin reaction (itching, hair loss, redness of the skin), if the drug gets inside – excessive salivation.

In case of an overdose, the animal may experience excessive salivation, muscle tremors, and vomiting. In this case, the drug is washed off with water and a detergent and antihistamines and symptomatic treatment agents are prescribed to the animal.
