Description
Pharmacological action of
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA, gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a biogenic amine, restores metabolic processes in the brain, helps the brain utilize glucose and remove toxic metabolic products from it, and normalizes the dynamics of nervous processes in the brain. It increases the productivity of thinking, improves memory, has a mild psychostimulating effect, favorably affects the restoration of movements and speech after cerebrovascular accident. Helps reduce and stabilize high blood pressure and reduce the subjective symptoms of arterial hypertension (dizziness, sleep disturbance).
Has a moderate antihypoxic and anticonvulsant effect. In patients with diabetes reduces glucose with normal blood glucose, it has the opposite effect (due to glycogenolysis).
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption is fast, fairly complete. Cmax in blood plasma is reached after 60 minutes, then the concentration rapidly decreases. After 24 hours, GABA is not detected in blood plasma.
Indications
Conditions after suffering cerebrovascular accidents after traumatic brain injuries. Atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels with symptoms of softening of the brain. Alcoholic encephalopathy and polyneuritis. Headache, dizziness, sleep disturbances in arterial hypertension.
