Pharmacodynamics
Gopantam has neurometabolic, neuroprotective and neurotrophic properties. Increases brain resistance to hypoxia, stimulates anabolic processes in neurons, reduces motor excitability while streamlining behavior. Increases mental and physical performance, reduces reactions to pain irritations.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration, it is rapidly absorbed from the digestive tract. Tmax – 1 h. Penetrates through the BBB. Not metabolized. It is excreted unchanged for 48 hours with urine (about 67%) and with feces (about 28%).
Indications of
cognitive impairment in organic brain lesions (including the effects of neuroinfections and traumatic brain injuries) and neurotic disorders,
extrapyramidal hyperkinesis (myoclonus epilepsy, Huntington’s chorea, hepatolenticular disease, hepatolenticular disease). as well as a corrector for extrapyramidal syndrome (hyperkinetic and akinetic) caused by the use of antipsychotics,
for epilepsy together with anticonvulsants,
psychoemotional overloads, decreased mental and physical performance, to facilitate concentration and memory,
urinary disorders (urination different urges, imperative urinary incontinence, enuresis),
mental retardation in children.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, acute severe kidney disease, pregnancy (1 trimester).
Composition
1 tablet contains: active substance: calcium homopantothenate 250 mg.
Dosage and administration of
Gopantam is taken orally, 15-30 minutes after a meal. Single dose for adults – 500-1000 mg, for children – 250-500 mg daily dose for adults – 1500-3000 mg, for children with different pathology of the nervous system – depending on age: – up to 1 year – 500-1000 mg / day – 1-3 years – 1500-2000 mg / day – 3-15 years – 2500-3000 mg / day.
Side effects
Allergic reactions (rhinitis, conjunctivitis, skin rashes). In this case, reduce the dose or cancel the drug. Sleep disturbances or drowsiness, noise in the head – these symptoms are usually short-term and do not require discontinuation of the drug.
Drug interaction
It prolongs the action of barbiturates, enhances the action of anticonvulsants, prevents side effects of phenobarbital, carbamazepine, antipsychotics. The effect of Hopantam is enhanced when combined with glycine, xidiphone. Potentiates the action of local anesthetics (novocaine).
Overdose
Increased symptoms of side effects. Treatment: activated carbon, gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy.
