Pharmacological action

Glevo is an antibacterial drug of the broad-spectrum group of fluoroquinolones.

Levofloxacin blocks DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, disrupts the supercoiling and cross-linking of DNA breaks, inhibits DNA synthesis, causes deep morphological changes in the cytoplasm, cell wall and membranes of microorganisms.

Indications

Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by drug-sensitive microorganisms:

infections of the ENT organs (including acute sinusitis)

infections of the lower respiratory tract (including exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia) and complicated infections of the urinary tract and kidneys (including acute pyelonephritis, prostatitis)

genital infections

infections of the skin and soft tissues (suppurative atheromas, abscess, furunculosis)

infection of the abdominal cavity (in combination with drugs acting on anaerobic microflora).

Contraindications

epilepsy

tendon damage with previous treatment with quinolones

pregnancy

lactation (breastfeeding)

childhood and adolescence (up to 18 years)

ornu other sensitivity.

Special instructions

During treatment, sun and artificial UV radiation must be avoided to avoid damage to the skin (photosensitivity).

Dosage and administration

Glevo taken orally, 1 or 2 times a day.

Average dose of 250 or 500 mg per day.

Side effects of the

From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (including blood), indigestion, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, pseudomembranous enterocolitis, increased activity of hepatic transaminases, hyperbilirubinemia, hepatitis, dysbiosis.

From the cardiovascular system: decreased blood pressure, vascular collapse, tachycardia, lengthening of the QT interval is extremely rare – atrial fibrillation.

From the endocrine system: hypoglycemia (increased appetite, increased sweating, trembling, nervousness).

From the side of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system: headache, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, insomnia, tremor, anxiety, paresthesia, fear, hallucinations, confusion, depression, motor disorders, epileptic seizures (in predisposed patients).

On the part of the sensory organs: impaired vision, hearing, smell, taste and tactile sensitivity.

Drug Interactions

With the simultaneous use of levofloxacin increases T1 / 2 cyclosporine.

Drugs that inhibit intestinal motility, sucralfate, aluminum / magnesium-containing antacid drugs and iron salts reduce the effect of the drug (a break between taking at least 2 hours).

With the simultaneous use of Glevo with NSAIDs, theophylline, convulsive readiness increases.

With the simultaneous use of Glevo with corticosteroids, the risk of tendon rupture increases.

Cimetidine and tubule-blocking drugs slow down the excretion of levofloxacin.

With the simultaneous use of hypoglycemic drugs with levofloxacin, the development of hypo- and hyperglycemia is possible. Therefore, strict control of blood glucose levels is necessary.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, erosive lesions of the gastrointestinal mucosa, lengthening of the QT interval, confusion, dizziness, convulsions.

Treatment: conduct symptomatic therapy, dialysis is not effective.

Storage conditions

The product should be stored out of the reach of children at temperatures not exceeding 25 °.
