Pharmacological action
VITAPROST PLUS – the combined preparation Vitaprost Plus has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Lomefloxacin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal agent from the group of fluoroquinolones. It affects the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, which provides supercoiling, forms a complex with its tetramer (subunits of A2B2 gyrase) and disrupts DNA transcription and replication, leads to the death of a microbial cell.

Resistant to Streptococcus spp., Pseudomonas cepacia, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Treponema pallidum, Mycoplasma hominis and anaerobic bacteria. Most microorganisms act in low concentrations (the concentration required to inhibit the growth of 90% of the strains, usually not more than 1 μg / ml). Resistance is rare.

Indications
Acute and chronic bacterial prostatitis caused by susceptible microorganisms, including those associated with inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary tract.
Conditions before and after surgery on the prostate gland.
Contraindications
Children and adolescents under 18 years of age (period of formation and growth of the skeleton).
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Caution is advised to use the drug for cerebral atherosclerosis, epilepsy and other diseases of the central nervous system with epileptic syndrome.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is not used in women.
Special instructions
During the treatment with Vitaprost ® Plus, the simultaneous use of antimicrobials – fluoroquinolones should be limited in order to avoid overdose and increase the frequency of side effects.
With cirrhosis of the liver, correction of the dosage regimen is not required (subject to normal renal function).
During the treatment period, prolonged exposure to sunlight and the use of artificial ultraviolet light should be avoided. At the first signs of photosensitivity (increased skin sensitivity, burns, hyperemia, edema, the appearance of blisters, rash, itching, dermatitis), hypersensitivity, manifestations of neurotoxicity (agitation, convulsions, tremors, photophobia, confusion, toxic psychoses, hallucinations) therapy should be stopped.
Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms
During the treatment period, care must be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
Composition
One suppository contains: active substances: prostate extract – 100 mg (in terms of water-soluble peptides – 20 mg), lomefloxacin hydrochloride – 400 mg
excipient: the basis for suppositories – solid fat (vitepsol) – a sufficient amount to obtain a suppository weighing 2.25 g.
Dosage and administration
Rectally, 1 suppository 1 time per day after an enema or self-bowel movement. Before use, the suppository should be removed from the blister strip packaging. After administration of Vitaprost ® Plus, it is advisable to be in bed for 30-40 minutes. The course of treatment continues until the pathogen disappears in the secretion of the prostate and ranges from 10 to 30 days (the duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually for each patient).
Side effects
Side effects of the drug Vitaprost ® Plus, with the exception of allergic reactions, are associated with the presence of the antibiotic lomefloxacin in its composition.
Allergic reactions: pruritus, urticaria, photosensitivity, malignant exudative erythema (Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
From the nervous system: asthenia, dizziness, nervousness, anxiety, fatigue, malaise, headache, fainting, insomnia, hallucinations, convulsions, hyperkinesis, tremors, paresthesias, depression, excitation.
From the digestive system: pseudomembranous enterocolitis, dysbiosis, dry oral mucosa, diarrhea or constipation, flatulence, discoloration of the tongue, decreased appetite or bulimia, taste perversion, increased activity of liver transaminases.
From the hemopoietic organs and hemostasis: bleeding from the organs of the gastrointestinal tract, thrombocytopenia, increased fibrinolysis, lymphadenopathy, purpura, nosebleeds.
From the cardiovascular system: lowering blood pressure, tachycardia, bradycardia, extrasystole, arrhythmias, progression of heart failure and angina pectoris, pulmonary embolism, cardiomyopathy, phlebitis.
From the genitourinary system: glomerulonephritis, dysuria, polyuria, anuria, albuminuria, urethral bleeding, crystalluria, hematuria, urinary retention, edema, orchitis, epididymitis.
From the side of metabolism: hypoglycemia, gout.
From the musculoskeletal system: arthralgia, vasculitis, spasms of the calf muscles, back and chest pains.
From the respiratory system: shortness of breath, bronchospasm, cough, hypersecretion of sputum, flu-like symptoms.
From the sensory organs: impaired vision, pain and tinnitus, pain in the eyes.
Other: increased sweating, chills, thirst, superinfection.
Drug Interactions
Increases the activity of oral anticoagulants and increases the toxicity of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Tubular secretion blocking drugs, slow down the elimination of the drug.
There is no cross-resistance with penicillins, cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, co-trimoxazole, metronidazole.
