Pharmacological action of
Marbofloxacin belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones and has a wide spectrum of bactericidal action based on suppression of bacterial DNA replication.
Marbofloxacin is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Citrobacter freundii, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Morganella morganii, Proteus spp, Klebsiella spp, Shigella spp, Pasteurella spp, Haemophilus spp, Moraxella spp, Pseudomiocococas spp, Pseudomrucomocasppp . et al.
Following oral administration of marfloxine, Marbofloxacin is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body. Bioavailability of almost 100%.
The maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 2.0 hours, the half-life in dogs is 14 hours, in cats 10 hours.
Marbofloxacin is excreted from the body of animals mainly in unchanged form with urine and bile.

Indications

Contraindications

Composition
Marfloxin tablets as an active ingredient contains 20 mg marbofloxacin in one tablet, and excipients – lactose monohydrate, povidone, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, meat flavoring, hydrogenated castor oil, yeast powder, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide.
Dosage and administration
The drug is used in animals once a day, individually in a crushed form with food or injected forcefully onto the root of the tongue in a daily dose of 2 mg / kg of live weight of the animal.
The duration of treatment for dogs is from 5 to 40 days for infections of the skin and soft tissues, from 10 to 28 days for diseases of the genitourinary system, and from 7 to 21 days for diseases of the respiratory system.
In case of overdose in animals, disturbances in the activity of the nervous system can be observed. The treatment is symptomatic.
Features of the drug during its first use and withdrawal have not been established.
Avoid skipping the next dose of the drug, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed in the same dosage and in the same way.
Side effects
When using the drug in the recommended dose, no side effects were found in dogs and cats. Gastrointestinal phenomena, such as vomiting and softening of the stool, which occur after treatment and do not require drug withdrawal, are possible.
