Pharmacological action
Farmgroup: antimicrobial agent.
Pharmaceutical action: Dentamet is a combined antimicrobial drug. The effectiveness of the drug is due to the presence of two antibacterial components in its composition: – metronidazole has an antibacterial effect against anaerobic bacteria that cause periodontal diseases: Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Fusobacterium fusiformis, Wolinella recta, Eikenella corrodens, Borrelia vusententi melini, Borrelia vusententi melindin, Borrelia vusententi melini.
– chlorhexidine – a broad spectrum antiseptic with bactericidal action against vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, as well as yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses.
Pharmacokinetics: When applied topically, Dentamet ¢ gel is practically not absorbed.
Indications
Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the periodontium and oral mucosa: acute and chronic gingivitis
acute ulcerative necrotic gingivitis Vincent
acute and chronic periodontitis
youthful periodontitis periodontitis when wearing
prostheses, post-extraction alveolitis (inflammation of the hole after tooth extraction)
periodontitis, periodontal abscess (as part of combination therapy and).
Contraindications
individual intolerance to metronidazole and other derivatives of nitroimidazole, chlorhexidine
intolerance to any components that make up the
preparation for children under 6 years of age.
Composition
100 g: – metronidazole 1 g
– chlorhexidine gluconate 20% solution 0.5 g
excipients: menthol – 0.25 g glycerol (glycerol) – 5 g polypropylene glycol – 5 g triethanolamine thermostable – 0.47 g arerespol – 1.25 g soluble saccharin – 0.25 g purified water – 86.28 g
Dosage and administration
Topically, for dental use only.
Adults and children over 6 years of age with gum disease (gingivitis) Dentamet ² Ñ is applied to the gum area 2 times a day, it is not recommended to wash off the gel. The duration of treatment is an average of 7-10 days. After applying the gel, you should refrain from drinking and eating for 30 minutes.
In case of periodontitis after dental plaque removal, periodontal pockets are treated with Dentamet ² Ñ gel and the gel is applied to the gum area. Exposure time – 30 minutes. The number of procedures depends on the severity of the disease. In the future, the patient can apply the gel applications on his own: Dentamet ² Ñ is applied to the gum area 2 times a day for 7-10 days.
With aphthous stomatitis, Dentamet ² Ñ is applied to the affected area of ² ¹ ² ¹the oral mucosa 2 times a day for 7-10 days.
To prevent exacerbations of chronic gingivitis and periodontitis, Dentamet ² Ñ gel is applied to the gum area 2 times a day for 7-10 days. Preventive treatment courses are carried out 2-3 times a year.
To prevent post-extraction alveolitis after tooth extraction, the hole is treated with Dentamet ² Ñ gel, then the gel is applied on an outpatient basis 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days.
Side effects
With topical administration of Dentamet gel, the risk of developing systemic side effects is low, however, headaches and allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria) can sometimes occur.
Overdose
There have been no cases of drug overdose with topical administration.
