Pharmacological action of

The effectiveness of the drug is due to the presence of two antibacterial components in its composition:

a) metronidazole has an antibacterial effect against anaerobic bacteria that cause periodontal diseases: Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Fusobacterella bella frankella bella frankella, Fusobacterella berefenella, Fusobacterella berefenella, Fusobacterella berefenella, Fusobacterella brentenidae melaninogenicus, Selenomonas spp.

Indications

Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the periodontium and oral mucosa:

– acute and chronic gingivitis

– inflammation of the oral mucosa when wearing prostheses

– post-extraction alveolitis (inflammation of the hole after tooth extraction)

Contraindications

– hypersensitivity to metronidazole, chlorhexidine, a derivative of nitroimidazole or other components of the drug

Use during pregnancy and lactation

It is not recommended to prescribe the drug to pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Special instructions

Application Metrogil Dent does not replace hygienic toothbrushing, therefore, during the course of treatment with the drug, toothbrushing should be continued. Dosage and administration

Topically, for dental use only.

In case of gum disease (gingivitis): Dent metrogil is applied to the gum area with a thin layer of a finger or with a cotton swab 2 times a day. After applying the gel, you should refrain from drinking and eating for 30 minutes. Rinse off the gel is not recommended. The duration of treatment is an average of 7-10 days.

In case of periodontitis: after removing dental plaque, periodontal pockets are treated with Metrogil Dent gel and the gel is applied to the gum area. Exposure time – 30 minutes. The number of procedures depends on the severity of the disease. In the future, the patient can carry out gel applications on his own. Metrogil Dent is applied to the gum area 2 times a day for 7-10 days.

In case of aphthous stomatitis: Metrogil Dent is applied to the affected area of the oral mucosa 2 times a day for 7-10 days.

For the prevention of exacerbations of chronic gingivitis and periodontitis: Metrogil Denta gel is applied to the gum area 2 times a day for 7-10 days. Preventive treatment courses are carried out 2-3 times a year.

For the prevention of post-extraction alveolitis: after tooth extraction, the hole is treated with Metrogil Dent gel, then the gel is applied 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days.

Side effects

With topical administration of the drug Metrogil Denta, a gel gel, allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria, anaphylactic reactions, including anaphylactic shock), as well as headache.

Drug interaction

When applied topically at the recommended doses, systemic interaction of the MetrogilDent gel with other drugs was not detected.

Overdose

Accidental or deliberate ingestion of a large amount of gel may cause an increase in the side effects caused mainly by metronidazole (chlorhexidine is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract). Can be observed: nausea, vomiting, dizziness, in more severe cases – paresthesias and convulsions.

Treatment: gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy if necessary.
