Description

Pharmacological action

Pharmaceutical action: Mupirocin is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic for topical application. It inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins by reversible and specific binding to isoleucyl-transport RNA synthetase.

Affects skin infections: Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant strains), Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus saprophyticus and Streptococcus pyogenes (including coagulase-negative strains).

Not cross-resistant with chloramphenicol, erythromycin, fusidic acid, gentamicin, lincomycin, methicillin, neomycin, streptomycin, tetracycline.

Pharmacokinetics: Mupirocin practically does not penetrate intact skin. In the case of absorption through damaged skin, it is metabolized to a microbiologically inactive metabolite – monic acid – and is rapidly excreted from the body by the kidneys.

Indications

Primary and secondary infectious skin lesions caused by microorganisms sensitive to mupirocin, including: – primary skin infections – pyoderma (streptoderma, staphyloderma): impetigo, sycosis, folliculitis, furunculosis (including ear lobe) shells),

ecthymes – secondary infections – infected eczema, infected atopic, contact and allergic dermatitis, infected injuries (abrasions, cuts, scratches, insect bites), trophic ulcers, minor (not requiring hospitalization) wounds and burns

– prevention of bacterial lesions and their complications arising from small wounds, cuts, pressure sores.

Contraindications

– hypersensitivity to any component of the drug Bonderm

– children under 3 years of age.

Precautions: renal failure (see “Special instructions”).

Pregnancy and lactation

There is currently insufficient data on the use of mupirocin in pregnancy, therefore, the use of the drug is possible if the expected benefit exceeds the possible risk of complications.

Excretion of the drug in breast milk is unlikely, however, the use of the drug in nursing mothers is possible if the expected benefit outweighs the risk of complications.

Special instructions

Macrogol, which is part of Bonderm ointment for external use, is absorbed from open wounds and damaged skin and excreted by the kidneys, so patients with severe chronic renal failure should be used with caution in large areas of the skin.

Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If the ointment enters the eyes and mucous membranes, it is recommended to thoroughly rinse them with water until the ointment remains completely removed.

In rare cases of allergic reactions or significant irritation of the skin when applying Bonderm ointment, treatment should be discontinued, rinse the affected area with water to remove ointment residues and prescribe alternative antibacterial therapy.

Influence on the ability to drive a car or perform work that requires an increased speed of physical and mental reactions. Adverse effects on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms were not observed.
