Pharmacological action
Ersefuril – intestinal antiseptic, antidiarrheal drug.
Like other nitrofurans, it blocks some redox enzyme reactions in microorganism cells.
When used in therapeutic doses, it has a bacteriostatic effect, in high doses it has a bactericidal effect. It is active against gram-positive (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Clostridium) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiela, Enterobacter, Vibrio cholerae, etc.) microorganisms. He affects saprophytic flora (does not cause dysbiosis). The drug does not develop resistance of bacterial strains.
Indications
Acute bacterial diarrhea.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity (including to other nitrofuran derivatives) children under 6 years of age.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Use during pregnancy is only possible when the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Can be given to nursing women.
Composition
1 capsule contains nifuroxazide 200 mg
excipients: sucrose 72 mg, magnesium stearate 1.8 mg, starch corn gum iron 88 mg capsid yellow oxide, water.
Dosage and administration of
Ersefuril is taken orally, for adults – 1 caps. (200 mg) 4 times a day (800 mg).
Children over 6 years of age – 200 mg 3 times a day (600 mg). The duration of treatment is no more than 7 days.
Side effects
Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, urticaria, Quincke’s edema, or anaphylactic shock are extremely rare.
Drug Interaction
Ethanol intake may cause hypersensitivity symptoms. It is not recommended to take the drug in combination with drugs leading to reactions such as withdrawal syndrome or antidepressants.
Storage conditions
Keep out of the reach and sight of children at temperatures not exceeding 30 ° C.
