Pharmacological action
Nitroglycerin is an organic nitrogen-containing compound with predominant venodilating action.
Indications
Angina pectoris.
Contraindications
Glaucoma, cerebral hypertension, cerebrovascular accident, severe cerebral atherosclerosis.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Extraction of nitroglycerin into breast milk has not been established.
The use of Nitrocor during pregnancy and during breastfeeding requires a careful comparison of risk and benefit and should be carried out under strict medical supervision.
Special instructions
Nitrocor enhances the excretion of catecholamines and vanillin amindic acid in the urine.
Drinking alcohol while using the drug is strictly prohibited.
Influence on driving a car and working requiring increased attention
At the beginning of treatment, it is necessary to refrain from driving a car and engaging in potentially dangerous activities that require an increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions. In the future, the degree of restriction is determined individually for each patient.
Composition
1 tab. contains 0.5 mg nitroglycerin.
Dosage and administration of
Sublingual: tablets – 0.15 0, 5 mg per dose, if necessary again after 5 minutes.
In the case of acute left ventricular failure, 4 or more doses may be used for a short period.
Side effects
Tinnitus, headache, dizziness, hypotension, tachycardia.
Drug Interactions
The hypotensive effect of the drug may be excessive with the uncontrolled simultaneous administration of other antihypertensive drugs, antidepressants, ethanol, diuretics, beta-blockers, MAO inhibitors.
However, the therapeutic effectiveness of the drug may decrease.
Caution is advised to use nitrocor with procainamide, as intensification of the hypotensive effect and the development of collapse are possible.
With the simultaneous use of nitrocor with heparin, a decrease in the anticoagulant effect of the latter is possible.
Overdose
Symptoms: cyanosis of the lips, nails or palms, severe dizziness or fainting, feeling of strong pressure in the head, shortness of breath, severe fatigue or weakness, weak and rapid heartbeat, fever, convulsions.
Treatment: at occurrence of symptoms of an overdose it is necessary to lay down the patient immediately, to raise his feet carry out symptomatic and supportive therapy.
