Pharmacological action
Silver preparation (silver proteinate contains 7.5-8.5% silver). It has astringent, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects. Dissociates to form silver ions, which bind to the DNA of bacteria and prevent their reproduction on the mucous membranes in local conditions.
The mechanism of action of silver proteinate is based on the fact that silver ions precipitate proteins and form a protective film on the damaged mucous membrane, which helps to reduce the sensitivity of nerve endings and narrow blood vessels (this leads to a decrease in edema), which in turn leads to inhibition of inflammatory reactions. Silver ions also inhibit the reproduction of various bacteria. Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: B. cereus, C. albicans, E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, A. niger, S. Abony and others.
Indications
The drug is recommended if the following indications are available:
acute nasopharyngitis,
sinusitis,
acute rhinitis.
Contraindications
The main contraindication for treatment with Sialor ® nose drops for children is individual intolerance to silver proteinate.
To detect a reaction before using the medicine, it is recommended to conduct a test: you need to drip a little solution on the skin in the elbow of the child. Burning and redness of the skin indicate that the drops are contraindicated for use.
Please note: if during treatment the baby develops adverse reactions in the form of a feeling of dryness, burning or irritation in the nose, the use of the drug must be stopped.
Recommendations for use
The drug Protargol is intended for intranasal use. Before use, a 2% solution is prepared, for which 1 tablet is dissolved in 10 ml of the supplied solvent (for this, the tablet is placed in a solvent bottle, which is then shaken until it is completely dissolved, which usually completes within 5-8 minutes). The resulting solution is instilled into the nasal passages 1-2 drops 3 times a day for 5-7 days. Before instilling the resulting Protargol solution, it is advisable to clear the nasal passages of mucus.
Special instructions
It is possible to stain the nasal discharge in gray or blue.

Dosage and administration
Topically, as a 2% solution.
Prepare the solution immediately before use.
Store the finished solution at room temperature. Use the solution within 30 days after preparation.
To prepare a 2% solution, 1 tablet of the drug (200 mg) is dissolved in 10 ml of solvent (water for injection).
Adult children over 6 years of age – 1-2 irrigation of the nasal mucosa 3 times a day for 5-7 days
Method of preparation of the drug solution before use:
It is recommended to rinse and clean the nasal passages before using the drug. The duration of treatment is 5-7 days.
If, after 7 days of treatment, improvement does not occur or the symptoms worsen, or new symptoms appear, consult a doctor.
Use the drug only according to the indications, the method of use and at the doses indicated in the instructions.
Side effects
Mild irritation of the mucous membrane, burning, itching, allergic reactions (urticaria, atopic dermatitis, Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic shock).
If you have any side effects that are indicated in the instructions or are aggravated, or you notice any other side effects that are not listed in the instructions, inform your doctor.
Overdose
An overdose is unlikely with the recommended method of use.
Symptoms: possible increased side effects. If a large amount of the drug is accidentally swallowed, it can cause gastrointestinal irritation.
Treatment: for severe irritation, burning, itching, rinse the mucous membranes with plenty of water for 15 minutes. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

Storage conditions
The Expiration of Sialor (Protargol) is 2 years. The prepared solution should be used for a period of no more than 30 days. The drug should be stored in its original intact packaging, in a dry, dark place out of the reach of children, at an air temperature not exceeding + 25 ° C.
