Description
Pharmacological action
Ringer-Locke solution is isotonic with the blood plasma of animals, regulates the water-salt and acid-base balance in animals. After administration of the drug, it is rapidly absorbed from the injection site and distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal. The drug does not irritate the tissue.
Contraindications
Intravenous administration of the solution is contraindicated in cases of severe impaired renal excretory function.
Special instructions
Livestock products during and after use of the drug are used without restriction. When working with the Ringer-Lock solution, the general rules of personal hygiene and safety precautions provided for when working with medicines for animals should be observed.
Composition
Ringer-Locke solution is a combined medicine in the form of an injection solution containing 0.8 g of sodium chloride, 0.02 g of potassium chloride, 0.02 g of calcium chloride, 0.02 g of sodium bicarbonate as active ingredients , 0.1 g of glucose and, as a solvent, water for injection up to 100 ml.
Dosage and administration
Ringer-Locke solution is administered subcutaneously or intravenously in the following doses. With subcutaneous administration, the dose of the drug is administered fractionally in different places.
horses, cattle 1000-3000 ml
Small cattle 100-300 ml
Calves up to one year 200-400 ml
Lambs, piglets 25-100
Doses and timing depend on the weight of the animal and the course of the disease.
Side effects
In recommended doses, the drug usually does not cause side effects and complications in animals. The use of a solution in large quantities can lead to the development of chloride acidosis, hyperhydration. With such complications, the dose is reduced or the drug is canceled. The use of the Ringer-Lock solution does not exclude the use of other drugs.
Storage conditions
In the manufacturer’s sealed packaging, in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, out of the reach of children and animals, separately from food and feed at temperatures from 0 to 25 C.
