Indications
Atonic constipation.
Regulation of stool (hemorrhoids, proctitis, anus cracks).
Preparation for surgical operations, instrumental and radiological examinations.
Contraindications
Intestinal obstruction.
Strangulated hernia.
Acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal organs (including peritonitis).
Pain in the abdomen of unknown origin.
Gastrointestinal bleeding.
Spastic constipation.
Severe dehydration.
Metrorrhagia.
Cystitis.
Children under 4 years old.
Hypersensitivity to sodium picosulfate and other components of the drug.
Precautions prescribe the drug during lactation.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy (I trimester). With caution – lactation.
Composition
1 ml drops contains:
Active ingredient: sodium picosulfate 7.5 mg
Excipients: sodium methyl paraoxybenzoate sorbitol 70% acid purified hydrochloric water.
Dosage and administration of
guttalax taken orally, before bedtime. For adults, the initial dose is 10 drops, with severe and persistent constipation – up to 30 drops. For children over 4 years of age, the initial dose is 5-10 drops. Depending on the effect obtained, the dose is increased or decreased in subsequent doses.
Side effects
Diarrhea, abdominal pain, dehydration, disturbance of water-electrolyte balance, weakness, convulsions, decreased blood pressure.
Drug Interaction
Concomitant use of Guttalax and diuretics or ACS increases the risk of electrolyte disorders. Concomitant administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics may reduce the laxative effect of Guttalax.
Overdose
Symptoms: Diarrhea, abdominal pain, dehydration, impaired electrolyte balance, weakness, convulsions, decreased blood pressure. In addition, chronic overdose may develop ischemia of the mucous membrane of the colon, secondary hyperaldosteronism, urolithiasis, renal tubular lesions.
Treatment: Gastric lavage, correction of disturbances of water-electrolyte balance, antispasmodics. Glucocorticosteroids, diuretics increase the risk of electrolyte disorders. Broad-spectrum antibiotics reduce the debilitating effect.
