Pharmacodynamics:

Streptocide is an antimicrobial bacteriostatic agent, sulfonamide. The mechanism of action is due to competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid (PANK), inhibition of dihydropteroate synthase, impaired synthesis of tetrahydrofolate acid, necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidipes. Active against gram-positive and gram-negative cocci, Escherichia coli. Shigella spp., Vibrio cholerae, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Yersinia pestis. Chlamydia spp., Actinomyces israelii. Toxoplasma gondii. When applied to the skin, it contributes to the rapid healing of wounds and epithelization of erosion.

Indications

As part of complex therapy: purulent wounds, infected burns (I-II degree) and other purulent-inflammatory processes of soft tissues.

Contraindications

– Hypersensitivity to sulfanilamides

Dosage and administration

Topically, apply directly to the affected surface (in the form of a powder for external use). Dressings are performed in 1-2 days. Maximum doses for adults: single dose – 5 g, daily dose – 15 g. For children over 3 years old – 300 mg – single dose, daily dose 300 mg.

Side effects

With hypersensitivity to sulfa drugs, allergic reactions are possible, the development of which requires immediate discontinuation of the drug. In addition, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, cyanosis, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, crystalluria. Drug Interactions

Myelotoxic drugs enhance the hematotoxicity of the drug.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, intestinal colic, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, depression, fainting, confusion, blurred vision, fever, hematuria, crystalluria with prolonged overdose – thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, leukopenia, leukopenia.

Treatment: heavy drinking with accidental ingestion – gastric lavage.
