Pharmacological action

Octilia – a drug with a vasoconstrictor effect for topical use in ophthalmology.

Tetrizoline hydrochloride is an alpha-adrenergic agonist derived from imidazole. It has a pronounced vasoconstrictor effect, reduces edema and hyperemia of the mucous membranes.

Chamomile and linden extracts have anti-inflammatory effects.

Indications

As part of complex therapy for the treatment of eye diseases accompanied by symptoms of irritation caused by allergic, chemical and physical factors (smoke, dust, strong lighting, reflection of light from snow and water surfaces, from the emitting monitor screens).

Contraindications

Glaucoma.

Dry eye syndrome.

Epithelial-endothelial dystrophy of the cornea.

Children under 3 years old.

Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug.

Caution is advised to prescribe the drug with:

Increased blood pressure.

ischemic heart disease.

Arrhythmias.

Aneurysm.

Severe organic diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

Hyperthyroidism.

Pheochromocytoma.

Diabetes.

During treatment with MAO inhibitors and other drugs that increase blood pressure, antidepressants, during pregnancy and during lactation (breastfeeding).

Composition of

Dosage and administration

The drug is instilled 1-2 drops in the lower conjunctival sac 2-3 times a day.

Side effects

Local reactions: mydriasis, increased intraocular pressure, burning sensation, reactive conjunctival hyperemia.

Systemic reactions: headache, nausea, drowsiness, weakness, tremor, dizziness, insomnia, palpitations, tachycardia, hyperglycemia, increased blood pressure, impaired heart function, allergic reactions.

Drug Interaction

The drug interaction of the drug Octil has not been described.

The drug should not be used concurrently with MAO inhibitors and for 10 days after discontinuation.

Overdose

Symptoms: cyanosis, fever, convulsions, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, hypertension, pulmonary edema, dyspnoea, CNS depression, accompanied by drowsiness, hypothermia, bradycardia, collapse, collapse.

Keep in mind that the risk of overdose is high in young children, especially when swallowed.

Treatment: Antidote unknown. Appointed activated charcoal, gastric lavage, oxygen inhalation, antipyretic and antiepileptic drugs.
