Pharmacological action of

Wound healing may be slowed due to the presence of exudate, film formations, crusts and scabs of dead tissue and cellular detritus and / or biofilms. These coatings are difficult to remove and create good conditions for the growth of pathogenic microflora.

In addition, even externally clean wounds, especially post-traumatic, can be contaminated with microorganisms that can cause infectious complications in the wound.

Pronosan allows thorough cleaning of the wound surface, moisturizing the wound and suppressing the bacterial flora, which creates the conditions for early wound healing. Thanks to the antibacterial component, Pronosan can be successfully used to prevent infection of wounds by pathogenic microorganisms and to prevent the development of infectious complications in the wound.

Indications

Prontosan wound solution can be used for washing and cleansing:

purulent-necrotic wounds of various origins, including non-healing wounds such as trophic ulcers, pressure sores, etc.

post-traumatic wounds and necrotizing wounds with inorr tissue

thermal and chemical burns, especially in lesions with a large number of necrotic tissue and scab

wound surfaces around the stoma, catheters or

probes postoperative wounds.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Avoid contact with eyes and hyaline cartilage, rinse thoroughly with saline if swallowed.

Special instructions

Pronosan does not have allergenic and irritating properties, is applied painlessly to the wound surface, does not inhibit the development of granulations and does not interfere with the epithelization of the wound.

To avoid reinfection of the wound, vials that directly touch the surface of the wound must be discarded immediately after use.

Composition

Active Ingredients:

0.1% undecylene amidopropyl betaine

0.1% polyaminopropyl biguanide (polyhexanide)

Dosage and administration

The surface of the wound must be thoroughly washed and cleaned with a Prontosan solution to remove foreign and necrotic tissue, exudate, surface films and crusts, fibrin and biofilms.

In order to reduce the risk of introducing germs into the wound, it is recommended that as much of the area around the wound as possible be cleansed with a Prontosan solution.

Gauze wipes or other dressings soaked in Prontosan solution can be used to clean and moisten the surface of the wound in accordance with their instructions. Due to the relatively small water-holding capacity of the solution (unlike Prontosan gel), dressings should be performed at least once a day, and preferably several times a day.

To remove copious accumulations of fibrin, denser films, crusts, scabs, etc. It is recommended that you continue to treat the wound with Pronosan gel.

Wound washing with Pronosan solution should be performed with such frequency which will be sufficient to completely remove all films and necrotic tissues and to achieve optimal wound cleansing to accelerate its healing or for the subsequent stage of surgical treatment.

For washing large wound surfaces, as well as wounds in hard-to-reach places, it is recommended to treat the entire affected organ or part of the body with Pronosan solution for at least 15 minutes.

The Prontosan solution can be warmed up to body temperature immediately before using

. To remove more dense films, crusts and scabs, in the presence of abundant accumulations of fibrin, tightly lying necrotic tissues, etc., it is recommended to continue treating the wound with Pronosan gel.

The surface of the wound should be covered with a gel layer of at least 3 mm thick. Pronosan is applied to the wound or inserted into the wound cavity. On top of the gel layer is covered with two to three sterile gauze napkins or other dressings. Pronosan should remain on the wound until the next dressing. Dressings are done daily. As the wound clears of necrotic tissue, dressings can be done every other day.

Depending on when the next dressing is planned, a different amount of Pronosan gel can be used, with a layer thickness of 3 to 5 mm. The application of the gel should be carried out with such a frequency that will be sufficient to completely remove all films and necrotic tissues and achieve optimal cleansing of the wound to accelerate its healing or for the subsequent stage of surgical treatment.
