Description

Pharmacological action

The Prontosan sterile solution is a ready-to-use antimicrobial medication. The main components that inhibit the development of microbes are undecylene-midopropyl betaine (surfactant) and a modern antiseptic – polyhexanide (polyaminopropyl biguanide).

These substances are dissolved in ordinary distilled water. Prontosan actively prevents the propagation of a large number of pathogenic / toxic microorganism species such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, St. Epidermidis, E. coli, MRSA, St. Aureus etc.

Indications

Prontosan wound solution can be used for washing and cleansing:

purulent necrotic wounds of various origins, including non-healing wounds such as trophic ulcers, pressure sores, etc.

post-traumatic wounds (abrasions, abrasions, abrasions, cuts, etc.)

postoperative wounds

thermal and chemical burns

wound surfaces around the stoma, catheters or probes.

The Prontosan solution can be used to clean the wound surface during the primary surgical treatment of injuries of the upper and lower extremities.

Prontosan solution can be used for dressings to moisten wound dressings, gauze, turunda, etc., to remove them without injuring the wound surface.

Dosage and administration

The surface of the wound must be thoroughly washed and cleaned with a Prontosan solution to remove foreign and necrotic tissues, exudate, surface films and crusts, fibrin and biofilms.

In order to reduce the risk of introducing germs into the wound, it is recommended that as much of the area around the wound as possible be cleansed with a Prontosan solution.

Gauze wipes or other dressings soaked in Prontosan solution can be used to clean and moisten the surface of the wound in accordance with their instructions. Due to the relatively small water-holding capacity of the solution (unlike Prontosan gel), dressings should be performed at least once a day, and preferably several times a day.

To remove abundant accumulations of fibrin, denser films, crusts, scabs, etc. It is recommended that you continue to treat the wound with Pronosan gel.

Lavage of a wound with Prontosan solution should be performed with such a frequency that will be sufficient to completely remove all films and necrotic tissues and achieve optimal cleansing of the wound to accelerate its healing or for the subsequent stage of surgical treatment.

For washing large wound surfaces, as well as wounds in hard-to-reach places, it is recommended to treat the entire affected organ or part of the body with Pronosan solution for at least 15 minutes.

The Prontosan solution can be warmed to body temperature immediately before use.
