When administered parenterally, it quickly causes dissociated anesthesia, the rate of manifestation of which depends on the dose and route of administration (after intramuscular or subcutaneous administration occurs in 5-30 minutes, after intravenous administration – in 1-5 minutes), followed by a dominant sedative effect and after 20 -50 minutes muscle relaxation.

The duration of the calming effect after administration of the drug in dogs and cats is 1-2 hours, the painkiller is 15-30 minutes.

Ksila, according to the degree of exposure to the body, belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), at the recommended doses it does not have a local irritating and sensitizing effect.

Indications

Contraindications

Xil should not be used in animals with mechanical damage to the gastrointestinal tract (obstruction of the esophagus, stomach twisting, hernia), with diabetes and a history of cardiac muscle conduction, as well as in females in the last third of pregnancy (except in cases of obstetrics), with oxytocin-like action of the drug on the uterus.

With caution, the drug should be used in animals with lung diseases.

Dogs Xyla is administered intravenously (slowly) or intramuscularly, to cats – intramuscularly or subcutaneously in the following doses: 0.1 ml / kg of animal weight – during transportation, clinical examination, catheterization, blood collection, change of dressings

0.15 ml / kg of weight animal – to achieve pronounced muscle relaxation during medical procedures that require the animal to lie down (opening an abscess, surgical treatment of wounds, suturing, etc.)

0, 2 ml / kg of animal mass – for complete immobilization of the animal for 20-50 minutes and a significant weakening of pain sensitivity during prolonged operations.

After applying Xyla, animals, until the physiological state is fully restored, should be monitored by a veterinarian.

In case of an overdose of the drug in an animal, breathing difficulties and bradycardia are possible. When breathing stops, the animal is advised to shower with cold water and artificial respiration.

Specific antidotes for xylazine are alpha-adrenergic blockers, which, if necessary, are used in animals according to the instructions.

Peculiarities of the drug during its first use and withdrawal were not detected.

In order to prevent vomiting, the animal must be kept on a hungry diet for 6-24 hours before administration of the drug. In case of severe respiratory failure, the animal is given a chest massage to restore normal breathing.

Xyla is applied to animals once.

If the desired degree of sedation is not achieved, additional injections to achieve the desired effect are not recommended.

Side effects of
