Pharmacological action
Rinorus – belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic activity, causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating swelling and hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, restores patency of the nasal passages, facilitates nasal breathing. The action of the drug occurs a few minutes after its use and lasts up to 10 hours.
Indications
acute rhinitis (incl. for acute respiratory diseases)
allergic rhinitis (if there is no allergy to eucalyptus oil)
sinusitis (sinusitis, frontal sinusitis)
otitis media (as part of combination therapy to reduce swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, hyperthyroidism, surgical interventions on the meninges (history), pregnancy, children (up to 0.05% for children aged 0.05 – for 0.05% % solution – up to 2 years).
Do not use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
Precautions: diabetes mellitus, lactation, coronary heart disease, angina of the III-IV functional class, prostatic hyperplasia.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy and lactation, the drug should be used only after a careful assessment of the ratio of the benefits for the mother and the risk for the fetus and the child, with caution, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended doses.
Special instructions
Do not exceed recommended doses and use for a long time.
Before use it is necessary to clear the nasal passages.
Do not use for more than 7 days.
Composition
1 ml contains:
Active ingredient: xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.5 and 1 mg
Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, disodium edetate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, eucalyptus oil, water d / i.
Dosage and administration of
Adults and children over 6 years of age – 1 injection of 0.1% nasal spray in each nasal passage 3 times / day. If necessary, you can repeat the injection (no more than two injections at a time).
Children from 2 to 6 years old – 1 injection of nasal spray 0.05% in each nasal passage 1-2 times / day.
Do not use the drug more than 3 times / day. The duration of treatment is no more than 5-7 days (without a break).
After completion of therapy, the drug can be prescribed again only after a few days.
The duration of the drug in children is determined by the doctor.
Side effects
Local reactions: with frequent and / or prolonged use – irritation and / or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning, paresthesia, sneezing, hypertension, mucosa, hypertension,
Systemic reactions: vomiting, headache, palpitations, increased blood pressure, insomnia, visual impairment, depression (with prolonged use of high doses).
Drug Interactions
It is possible to enhance systemic effects while using monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOs) and tricyclic antidepressants.
Overdose
Symptoms: increased side effects.
Treatment: symptomatic under the supervision of a physician.
