Pharmacological action
Rinorus – refers to a group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic activity, causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating edema and hyperemia the nasal membrane, restores patency of the nasal passages, facilitates nasal breathing. The action of the drug occurs a few minutes after its use and lasts up to 10 hours.
Indications
acute rhinitis (incl. for acute respiratory diseases)
allergic rhinitis (if there is no allergy to eucalyptus oil)
sinusitis (sinusitis, frontal sinusitis)
otitis media (as part of combination therapy to reduce swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx).
Use during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy and lactation, the drug should be used only after a careful assessment of the ratio of the benefits for the mother and the risk for the fetus and the child, with caution, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended doses.
Composition
1 ml contains:
Active substance: xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg
Excipients, benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, eucalyptus oil, water d / i.
Dosage and administration
Adults and children over 6 years old are instilled with 2-3 drops of a 0.1% solution in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day.
Children from 2 to 6 years old are instilled with a 0.05% solution of 1-2 drops in each nasal passage – 1-2 times a day. Do not use more than 3 times a day.
Duration of treatment – no more than 3-5 days (without a break).
Before using the drug, unscrew the cap of the bottle and bury it in the nose by lightly pressing the bottom of the bottle.
Side effects
Local reactions: with frequent and / or prolonged use – irritation and / or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion rarely – swelling of the nasal mucosa.
Systemic reactions: vomiting, headache, palpitations, increased blood pressure, insomnia, visual impairment, depression (with prolonged use of high doses).
Drug Interaction
Enhanced systemic action with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
Overdose
Symptoms: increased side effects.
Treatment: symptomatic under the supervision of a physician.
