Description

Pharmacological action of

Oflosan refers to antibacterial drugs from the group of fluoroquinolones.

Ofloxacin, which is part of the drug, has a wide range of antibacterial and antimycoplasmic effects, inhibits the growth and development of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Prote. prote. ., Campylobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus spp., Staphylococcus spp., As well as Mycoplasma spp.

The mechanism of action of ofloxacin is the inhibition of the activity of the DNA gyrase enzyme (type II topoisomerase), which affects the replication of the DNA helix in the nucleus of a bacterial cell.

When administered orally, ofloxacin is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into most organs and tissues of the body, reaching the highest level in the lungs, liver and kidneys.

The maximum concentration of ofloxacin in the blood serum is observed after 1.5 – 2 hours, the therapeutic concentration persists for 24 hours. Ofloxacin is excreted mainly in unchanged form (up to 80%) and partially in the form of metabolites, mainly with urine and bile.

Oflosan by its degree of exposure to the body belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76) in recommended doses is well tolerated by animals, does not possess embryotoxic, teratogenic and hepatotoxic properties.

Indications

Oflosan is prescribed for therapeutic purposes to calves, lambs, pigs, dogs, cats and farm birds for respiratory, gastrointestinal, urogenital infections, arthritis, colibacteriosis, salmonellosis, streptococcosis, peritonitis, septitis, and septitis with viral diseases, as well as with other diseases whose pathogens are sensitive to ofloxacin.

Contraindications

Contraindication to use is the hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug. The use of Oflosan is not allowed for laying hens and repair young growth, less than 2 weeks before the laying of eggs, in connection with the accumulation of ofloxacin in eggs, adult ruminants with advanced cicatricial digestion, females during pregnancy and lactation, animals with severe disorders of the development of cartilage, with nervous system lesions accompanied by seizures, as well as puppies of dogs and kittens before the end of the growth period.

Composition of

Oflosan in 1 ml contains ofloxacin – 100 mg as an active ingredient, as well as excipients: benzyl alcohol, propylene glycol, saccharin, cyclamate, aspartame, cremophor, anise essential oil, potassium hydroxide and purified water.

Dosage and administration of

Oflosan is administered to animals orally once a day for 3 to 5 days in the following doses:

– to calves, lambs, pigs, dogs and cats individually, forcibly – 0.5 ml per 10 kg of animal weight

– broilers, meat turkeys, parent broiler herd in a group way – 50 ml per 100 l of water for drinking.

For salmonellosis, mixed infections, and chronic forms of bird diseases, Oflosan’s therapeutic dose is 100 ml per 100 liters of water for drinking and the treatment course is 5 days.

During treatment, birds should receive only water containing the drug. The treatment solution is prepared daily in an amount calculated for consumption by the bird during the day.

Overdose of

With an overdose of the drug, the animal may experience a decrease in appetite, depression, vomiting, diarrhea.
