Description
Description
The preparation contains fipronil, an insect growth regulator and excipients, such as glycerin, castor oil, etc. It has a pronounced activity against larval and mature phases of the development of fleas, lice, liceworms, ixodic and sarcoptic ticks, parasites cats.
After applying the drug to the skin and scalp, its component fipronil, not absorbed into the systemic circulation, accumulates in the epidermis, hair follicles and sebaceous glands of the animal’s body and has a long contact and intestinal insect acaricidal effect.
The mechanism of action of fipronil is to block the GABA-dependent receptors of ectoparasites, impaired transmission of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of insects and ticks.
The insect growth regulator disrupts the synthesis of chitin (integumentary tissues) and, thus, reliably breaks the parasite’s life cycle.
Glycerin and castor oil have an antiseptic effect, normalize metabolic processes in the skin and hair of an animal. Contribute to the formation of a healthy and thick coat in the animal.
Indications
Used for dogs and cats for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes in case of entomoses (lice, fleas, lice-eaters), sarcoptosis (sarcoptosis, knothedrosis) and ixodid ticks.
Contraindications
Patients with infectious diseases and recovering animals, pregnant females, as well as puppies and kittens under 10 weeks of age are not to be treated.
Dosage and administration
The animals are treated outdoors or in a well-ventilated area with open windows (windows), away from open flame.
To prevent the drug from licking, put on a muzzle, neck collar or fix the jaw with a loop from the braid, which is removed after the skin-hair cover is completely dry.
Before use, shake the bottle with the drug and hold it vertically, press the spray head, directing the aerosol torch onto the surface to be treated from a distance of 20–25 cm.
To kill insects and prevent the attack of ixodid ticks on animals, spray the entire body of the animal against growth with a spray hair, slightly moistening the hair (in animals of long-haired breeds, the hair is lifted with a gloved hand). The dose of the drug, depending on the condition of the coat, is 0.5–1.0 ml per 1 kg of animal weight, which is achieved by one and two clicks on the spray head of the bottle, respectively. Covering the animal’s eyes, they process the auricles and chest, with the fingertips (gloved), rub the preparation lightly around the eyes and nose, then treat the neck, trunk, limbs, abdomen and tail. 20 minutes after treatment, the animal’s hair is combed with a comb.
For prophylactic purposes, treatments are performed as indicated.
In order to prevent re-infestation of fleas, bedding, blankets and other animal care items are treated with a spray at the rate of 2 ml (four presses on the spray head) per 1 m the processed surface. During the day, the animal is not allowed to come into contact with processed items.
When cats are affected by knothedrosis, and dogs with sarcoptosis, the drug is applied to the affected areas of the body previously cleared of scabs with capture of border healthy skin up to 1 cm at the rate of 1 ml (two pressures on the spray head) per 10 cm2 of the affected area of the animal’s body.
Treatment is carried out two to four times with an interval of 7-10 days before the clinical recovery of the animal, which is confirmed by two negative results of acarological studies.
Animals with extensive lesions are treated in two divided doses with an interval of 1 day, applying the drug to the affected area, first one and then the other half of the body.
