Pharmacological action
Unitiol – complexing agent, has a detoxifying effect.
Unithiol’s active sulfhydryl groups, interacting with thiol poisons (arsenic compounds, heavy metal salts) and forming non-toxic water-soluble compounds with them, restore the functions of the body’s enzyme systems affected by poison.
Increases the excretion of certain cations (especially copper and zinc) from metal-containing cell enzymes.
Pharmacokinetics
When administered parenterally, it is rapidly absorbed into the blood. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood (Cmax) is achieved 15-30 minutes after intramuscular injection.
Elimination half-life (T1 / 2) – 1-2 hours.
Distribution volume – 166.5 ml / kg. The drug is distributed mainly in the aqueous phase (blood plasma). Does not cumulate.
Excreted by the kidneys, mainly in the form of products of incomplete and complete oxidation, partially unchanged.
Indications
intoxication with arsenic, mercury, bismuth, chromium, cardiac glycosides
hepatocerebral dystrophy (Wilson-Westphal-Konovalov disease)
chronic alcoholism (as part of complex therapy), srdlk.
Contraindications
hypersensitivity to the drug Unitiol,
liver failure,
arterial hypertension,
children under 18 years of age.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
Composition of
1 ml of solution for intramuscular and subcutaneous administration contains:
active substances: dimercaptopropanesulfonate sodium monohydrate (unitiol) 50 mg
excipients: disodium edetate (trilon B), sulfuric acid 0.1 M (up to pH 3.1-4.5) di.
Dosage and administration
Unitiol is used mainly intramuscularly or subcutaneously.
For arsenic intoxication – 5-10 ml of the drug (based on 0.005 g / 1 kg), on the 1st day – 3-4 times, on the 2nd day – 2-3 times, on the next – 1-2 times.
In case of poisoning with mercury compounds – according to the same scheme for 6-7 days. Treatment is carried out until the signs of intoxication disappear.
With digitalis intoxication, in the first 2 days, 5-10 ml of a 5% aqueous solution is administered 3-4 times / day, then 1-2 times / day until the cardiotoxic effect ceases.
With hepatocerebral dystrophy – i / m 5-10 ml of 5% solution daily or every other day, the course of treatment – 25-30 injections, if necessary, repeat after 3-4 months.
In chronic alcoholism, 3-5 ml is prescribed 2-3 times a week.
For stopping delirium – once 4-5 ml.
Side effects

allergic reactions are possible.
Drug Interaction
It is not recommended to use Unithiol concurrently with drugs that contain heavy metals and alkalis, as Uniothiol decomposes rapidly.
Overdose
Symptoms: shortness of breath, hyperkinesis, drowsiness, sluggishness, deafness, short-term cramps (occur when the recommended therapeutic dose is exceeded more than 10 times).
Treatment: symptomatic therapy.

Store in a dark place at a temperature of 0 to 25 ° C. Do not freeze.
